Portfolio Project Instructions

Steps you should take to complete the project:

1. Forming groups. You have been assigned in a group. Please find a group leader who will
coordinate and lead the group on the project. The leader will receive an additional 5 points of
the project marks (2.75 points out of the course score).
2. Construct an investment portfolio. Your group has RMB 100 million to invest in the
secondary market. Please construct a portfolio with n legal tradeable assets (e.g., individual
A share stocks), including the ticker symbols and quantities. n is the number of people in
your group. Please do not select more or less than n assets. Explain in your PowerPoint why
your portfolio is good. To avoid circular calculations, you are not allowed to invest in other
groups.
3. Turn in a PowerPoint on your portfolio by December 8th, 2021. On that day in class, your
group will make a 5-minute presentation. By 6pm on that day, please turn in the final version
of your PowerPoint, including the ticker symbols, and the quantities. Explain why your assets
are good and why you use these quantities, etc. Your investment horizon is from the opening
of December 9th, 2021, to the closing of December 31, 2021. If your stock is at the limit up
(涨停板) at the opening of December 9th, 2021, we will buy your stock at the first closing

that is not at the limit up. If your stock is at the limit up (涨停板) or the limit down (跌停板)
at the closing of December 31st, 2021, we will sell your stock at the first closing that is
neither at the limit up nor at the limit down. You are not allowed to rebalance during this
period.

30% of your grade will depend on your final returns (our teaching assistant will compute the
returns for you), 20% on your presentation, and 50% will depend on how professional your
