Introduction:

This report will be analyzing various aspects of data published by Champaign County Mental

Health Board in 2010. The Champaign County Mental Health Board allocates funds for local

mental health and developmental disabilities services. Founded in 1972, CCMHB has been

working for decades in the mental health space. The charts and graph included below provide a

summary of appropriations allocated for various demographics like residency, age, race, and

gender. Additionally, the rest of this report will provide a comprehensive review of fund

allocation for 2010.

Demographics:

As the pie charts display, a majority of appropriations were allocated for white individuals, with

30% identifying as black, 7% as Asian, and 8% as Other. More than half of appropriations by

gendered were directed towards women, at 57%. In terms of appropriations by age, it is clear that

the target population serviced is between the ages of 19 and 59 (52%). The smallest age

population served adults aged 60 and up (9.2%) and 0-6 (10.2%). Additionally, the majority of

recipients for CCMHB’s services are located in Champaign (45.6%) with other recipients being

from Urbana (26.7%), Rantoul (16.7%), and other in-county services (11.1%).

Service Delivery:

The majority of funds are being allocated towards mental health resources (56.6%), with 17.2%

of appropriations going towards addressing substance abuse, 17.2% towards developmental

disability resources, and 9.1% towards miscellaneous programs. Outpatient services were most

popular with 56.0%, with other services like residential (3%), info/referral (5%), and crisis

(5%) receiving less than 10% of funds each.

Reflection:

Overall, of the information I have gathered, it is clear that Champaign County Mental Health

Board invests its money in a wide array of programs to support mental health and developmental

disabilities services in Champaign county. I found this assignment to be really interesting and

quite challenging at times, just because of its unfamiliarity. I don’t have any questions regarding

my year, however, I would be interested to understand more of the impact of these programs.

Now that I know the various funding for programs, I would like to gather information on the

effectiveness of the programs and accounts of what recipients of these services have to say.
