The pilot program of Japanese Language and Culture


Skills training enables you to learn a language from 0
to N3 (intermediate) level in 15 months. The program
would also give you a good grasp on Japan’s culture
through – customs, etiquettes, and social norms.

This program is suitable for:

 Anyone who has a passion for learning Japanese language


 At least have been an employee for a year in Accenture
 In good standing with current project with no pending IR/ER/PIP/HR case

Learning a new language, Japanese on top of it, as daunting as it is, have immeasurable benefits to the
participants.

One important benefit is cost saving. If you have plans to learn a language but is saving up for the high
tuition fee rates and waiting for the right timeslot to fit your desired schedule, then this program is right for
you. As there is no tuition to be part of the program and is completely free*.

*there is a learning agreement that needs to be signed prior to the start of the training

As there is a growing demand for Japanese bilinguals, career growth is an opportune. It is a great way to
reap financial benefits as it boosts your professional value and increases marketability in an ever-advancing
society. It is also important to note that as our neighboring East Asia continues to increase importance in
global economy, learning Japanese could be a gateway to understanding different cultures and sensitivity
towards other culture. Studies have also shown historically that those who speak multiple languages have
significant benefits to memory skills and gain more perspective in world’s view.

Program Timelines

The entire track program is 15-months or a total of 60-weeks and divided into three phases to distinctly divide level
of fluency. Phase I is 15 weeks, Phase II is also 15 weeks and the remaining 30 weeks are for Phase III.
How to enroll into the program?

Step 1 Register in the program in the mailer link that will be sent out by
AIOCP.CapDev.JapanBuild@accenture.com and keep in mind of the registration deadlines indicated.
Step 2 Await invite for schedules of pocket learning sessions and attend the class.
Step 3 Upon completion of the pocket learning session, please complete the assessment within the given
time frame. (Those who have attained 85% will be in the pool of recommended participants.)
Step 4 Qualified participants will be sought out for approval from respective reporting lead prior to the
start of the program and be disclosed of the learning agreement to be signed and acknowledged.
Step 5 Once approval is granted and agreements has been acknowledged, the participants will be attending
a kick-off session for further instructions on what to prepare prior to the start of learning session.
Last Step: Begin learning.

Expectation Setting:

The short-listed participants are to fulfill compliance expectation which are the following.

 90% attendance of the overall duration of the program (per phase)


 To inform prior to the start of the session if the participant will not be able to attend the session
for the day via email and Absence Care (include to notify assigned instructor).
 To complete the weekly assessments, tollgate assessments, EOC battery test and coursework in
each time frame.
 To observe the Accenture core values and acceptable behaviors in attending the sessions.

In this course, we would holistically develop each participants’ skill in the language and closely examine each
component to develop their fluency and enable a learner to adapt to a Japanese client with ease and confidence.

Our team will provide the participants with the most comprehensive learning materials and help build their
enablement of their newly learned language. In our thorough research of fact finding of each proficiency level, we
have created a targeted approach to attain the learning outcome of the training:

 Learning objective per component of each level

Phase I (JLPT N5 level)


 Ability to understand some basic Japanese – read and understand typical expressions and sentences
written in hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji.
 Ability to listen and interpret conversations that are regularly encountered in daily life and classroom
situations, and able to identify necessary information in short conversations.

Phase II (JLPT N4 level)


 Ability to comprehend passages on familiar daily topics written with basic vocabulary and upskilling of kanji
reading
 Ability to comprehend conversations encountered in daily life and interpret contents
Phase III (JLPT N3 level)
 Ability to read and understand written materials on everyday topics, comprehend summary information of
newspaper headlines, and read intermediate difficult writings encountered in everyday situations and
understand main points of the content
 Ability to comprehend coherent conversations in daily situations spoken at a natural speed (nearly) and
follow contents and grasp relationship of speakers in a dialogue

Culture
 Holistically gain insight on the ways of Japan by closely looking at its culture, business customs and
etiquette as well as some level of Japanese business language decorum and emailing etiquette

How to get certified?

In order to get certified for each level of fluency, a participant would have to attain a satisfactory target output in
the EOC (end of course) Battery Assessment which will include a mirrored JLPT equivalent assessment. After which,
a participant would be recommended to attend a language proficiency assessment by Berlitz and/or recommended
to take the JLPT Examination (if schedule coincides with the schedule of the annually conducted tests).

Our thoughtfully architected training is structured to address challenges that are encountered by learners of
Japanese language by means of proactive remediation and coaching to successfully graduate participants and
become integral success to our stakeholders.

What if I have a degree of Japanese language understanding?

For participants who intent to join the program and have already learned the language to an extent, please indicate
your level of proficiency, training attended (if any) or proof of training completion. Please email us this information
and take the assessment validation prior to determining suitable phase level.
