The Institute of Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary unit with the responsibility for
promoting, facilitating and conducting research and environmental education.

Duties and Responsibilities


The responsibilities will include;
 managing the day-to-day affairs of the Institute,
 mobilising the necessary financial resources for the smooth running of the Institute,
implementing the strategic plan of the Institute,
 co-ordinating interdisciplinary projects, and
 consultancies as well as conducting internationally-publishable research.

Qualifications and experience


Applicants should:
 be Senior Academics holding a PhD
 be with experience that would enable them to handle the administration of the Institute,
 raise financial resources and command the respect of relevant academic institutions,
government departments, non-governmental organisations, and donors.
 have a proven track record in administration and environmental research.

PART B: DIRECTOR - POSTGRADUATE CENTRE

The University is invIting applications for the post of Director, Postgraduate Centre. The post is
available immediately. The successful candidate will be appointed initially on a four-year
contract, which is subject to renewal on satisfactory performance.

Qualifications and experience


Applicants should:
 be Senior Members of the academic staff, holding a PhD/Dphil;
 be knowledgeable about the policy and regulatory framework and environment for
postgraduate teaching and research;
 display a high level of diligence and an ability to work without supervision;

reserach;
 be highly computer literate;
 be knowledgeable about the current Quality Assurance Systems in Higher Education.

Duties and Responsibilities


 Develop, periodically review, initiate and co-ordinate postgraduate policy framework,
and instruments for managing and governing the delivery of enriched and quality
postgraduate programmes in faculties, schools and departments.
 Promote and market all University postgraduate programmes.
 Prepare reports required by the University from time-to-time on postgraduate
programmes offered by the University.
 Control the provision of all postgraduate programmes by ensuring that facilities and
schools comply with the general and faculty regulations and Senate resolutions.
 Identify and nurture opportunities for collaborative student exchange programmes with
other recognised and reputable Universities, to enhance the students’ postgraduate
experience.
 Support faculties, schools and departments to design new quality postgraduate
programmes.
 Monitor the supervision, teaching learning and assessment of all postgraduate
programmes.
 Advise faculties, schools and departments on admission, registration, examinations,
regulations and policies on postgraduate pragrammes.
 Maintain students records for all postgraduate students.
 Provide up-dated bulletins, leaflets and brochures of postgraduate programmes on a
regular basis and as required by the University.

Desired Attributes
This is a senior position requiring a highly qualified and exeprienced Senior Academic with
extensive experience in postgraduate teaching and research. He or she will become part of the
senior Management/Administration of the University and will report to the Vice-Chancellor
through the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs.

PART C: DIRECTOR – HEALTH SERVICES

Qualifications and experience


Applicants should:
 have at least a Master’s Degree in Administration/Business Management or equivalent
from a recognised Institution;
 relevant first Degree
 qualifications in the medical field will be an added advantage
 at least 10 years post qualification experience in hospital administration;

Duties and Responsibilities


Reporting to the Registrar, the incumbent will be responsible for:
 Designing programmes, activities, systems and mechanisms for efficient, effective and
quality delivery of healthcare services to students, staff and their dependence;
 Designing and monitoring adherence to policies and procedures in the Department;
 Designing a viable health insurance scheme for students, staff and their dependence
 Designing and implementing business models that facilitate production, marketing and
selling of medical appliances and pharmaceutical products;
 Keeping up to date with new laws and regulations so that the Department complies with
local and international bylaws and best practice;
 Ensure that the campus clinics are managed efficiently and all professional staff are
recruited and duly registered with the relevant professional bodies;
 Supervising personnel in both the staff and campus clinics;
 Managing finances, facilities and assets of the Department;
 Creating and monitoring work schedules for personnel;
 Representing the Department at various forums, on and off campus;
 Maintaining and organising records of the Department’s services
 Coordinating the operations of members of the medical and administrative staff in the
Department;
 Maintaining current licensure;
 Acting as a communication conduit between the Health Services Department and its
stakeholders;
 Facilitating synergies with national and international health institutions, as well as the
donor community;
 Participating in and facilitating meetings and workshops coordinated by the Ministry of
Health and Child Care; and
 Performing any other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor through the Registrar.

PART D: MARKETING MANAGER – INNOVATION HUB


Reports to: Executive Director, Research and Innovation in the Vice Chancellor’s Office
Duties for the Marketing Manager will include:
i. Marketing the Innovation Hub and recruit potential tenants.
ii. Promoting the commercialisation of innovations at the Innovation Hub.

iii. Creating and implementing marketing plans including but not limited to print, video,
television, social media, etc.
iv. Conducting market research to identify potential investors for goods and services
from the Innovation Hub.
v. Investigating new opportunities for demand-driven research.
vi. Maintaining a communication system for Innovation Hub highlights for internal
(intranet, research briefs, newsletters, emails, announcements) and external
(internet, newsletters, brochures, news release) consumers.
vii. Establishing new ways to market our products and attract investment.
viii. Performing market analysis and providing marketing support to researchers
ix. Overseeing the coordination and organization of all public events linked to the
Innovation.
x. Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Tensor flow, Dialog flow, Premonitions and experience with Open Source DevsOps

AI and Machine Learning Algorithms.

electronic switching systems, and other telephone service facilities, IP networks,
optical fibre and microwave transmission systems.

 To monitor departmental funds/budgets and semester requirements.
 To be responsible for storage, maintenance, repairs and security of equipment and
buildings, in liaison with the relevant University of Zimbabwe Departments.

 Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field or equivalent.
 Have at least five (5) years relevant experience in a Laboratory at a University.
 Knowledge of University communication systems in relation to the incumbent’s

 Possess an Undergraduate Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Biochemistry/
Physiology/MBChB.
 Possess a Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry or Human Genetics or an
approved equivalent.
 PhD or equivalent in a Clinical Biochemistry or related field of study is an advantage.
 Applicants who are interested in pursuing their PhD studies would be required to
submit a concept paper.

Department of Histopathology.

2. General Histopathologist/Cytopathologist/Forensic Pathologist x 3

Responsibilities
 To teach Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
 To do research as an individual and in teams.
 To provide clinical service at Government hospitals affiliated with the University and
be part of service roster (clinical work).
 To attend and participate in University meetings as requested by the Chairperson
(administration).

 Possess a Master in Medicine Histopathology Degree or FRCPath or equivalent.
 Be registerable on the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council as a SPECIALIST
PATHOLOGIST.
 Have clinical working experience in the areas of Cytopathology or Forensic Pathology
and given evidence of having engaged in research and published.
 An additional subspecialty qualification in Cytopathology or Forensic pathology will
be an added advantage.

Desired Qualifications and Attributes

The successful candidate must:


 Possess, at least a Master’s Degree in Administration or equivalent, from an
institution recognized by the University of Zimbabwe.
 Be familiar with Student Information Management Systems.
 Have the ability and willingness to work outside normal hours.

Duties and Responsibilities


 Coordinate the compilation of the composite examination time-table.
 Communicate with Chairpersons of Departments on Examination policy and
procedures for processing of question papers.
 Coordinate printing and storage of examination question papers.
 Coordinate the setting up of examination venue and the printing of attendance slips
and registers.
 Coordinate all the stationery requirements for examinations.
 Coordinate the publication of results.
 Supervise the processing of degree certificates.
 checking certificates before the Registrar and Vice-Chancellor sign them
 Supervise staff processing results.
 Coordinate the appointment of external examiners and their travel itinerary.

 A Bachelor’s Degree in Publishing or related field
 Experience in digital publishing and/or e-publishing is a distinct advantage

 Two years working experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities:


 Reviewing, editing and proof-reading books, manuscripts, articles, magazines,
journals, papers, and related documents, involving highly specialized scientific,
and/or non-English language up to camera-ready-copy.
 Working in conjunction with Acquisition Editors, researchers and authors/writers
to help maintain and produce accurate content.
 Creating or adhering to a style guide, formatting document layouts and helping
design graphics and select art for the publications.
 The Technical Editor may perform technical tasks such as page-layout and image-
embedding.

 A basic Degree in Communication or related field.

equivalent, in Secretarial Studies.
 A qualification in Desk-Top Publishing would be a distinct advantage.
 At least 2 years working experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified, preferably in a publishing outfit.

Duties and Responsibilities


The successful candidate would be responsible for:
 Coordinating, overseeing and/or performing a wide variety if administrative,
secretarial and publishing support activities on behalf of the Director, University
Publications.
 Serving as primary point of operational and administrative contact for internal and
external contacts of the University Publications Unit, often on information and
office management issues.
 Coordinating the provision of office and staff support services and oversees and/or
participates in the coordination, supervision and completing of the Unit’s special
projects and/or events.
 Serving on a variety of committees in a support capacity.
 Serving as the confidential and personal assistant to the Director.
 Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
