Basic Qualifications
• Degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or
equivalent experience/combined education

• Mechanical Design experience in structures or similar field

• Strong understanding of ANSI drawing standards

• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (such as PTC Creo, ProE, Windchill) and
mechanical simulation tools

• Experience with project planning, scheduling, and/or operations oversight

Job Description

As an Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer, you’ll work in a dynamic, hands-on laboratory


environment. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, focused on the development and
integration of additive manufacturing to increasingly provide value to our customers. This position
works with advanced materials and 3D printing technologies to support engineering development
for program applications.

In this role you will:

• Provide Design for Additive Manufacturing input to optimize parts for Laser Powder Bed Fusion
processes.

• Collaborate with program engineers and proactively network with internal/external customers.

• Support the entire additive build process from build set-up, printer operation, and build post-
processing.

• Support planning, scheduling, and execution of builds. Provide timely and accurate cost
estimates to potential customers.

• Interface with laboratory leadership and engineering team to apply/modify existing techniques
towards the improvement or development of new processes.

and unique design constraints.

• Someone willing to learn new concepts, software, and equipment.

• Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects, and timeline pressure to
meet deadlines

• Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums

Work Schedule Information


Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility
to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while
others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time
away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
