Riverdale: our town

town.. Loosely translated, it means "the
valley by the river"
river",, and indeed, our town rests against the
snaking, rushing path of the Sweetwater
Sweetwater,, carrying on its
rapids the sharp, sticky runoff of maple-tapping season.
Another thing the river carries
carries?? Secrets.
If there was one thing we had learned since Jason
Blossom first vanished
vanished,, it's that Sweetwater River has
known a lifetime of secrets.
Several times, to be precise
precise..
Our town was officially established seventy-five years
ago, but as the founding families know, it was settled long
before then
then.. Our land holds centuries of legacy within its
soil - much of it, we were slowly coming to realize, fetid
and damning. The sinister secrets and bloodstained
pages of our history books date as far back as the very
first settlers themselves: from the Hatfield and McCoy-
esque feuding of the Coopers and the Blossoms- Blossoms-cousin cousin
shooting cousin, brother with his own brother's blood on
his hands
hands-to-to the decimation of indigenous people.
Our town knows darkness, violence, and plague. Most of it

We were learning, we children of Riverdale, that echoes
remain. From Jason Blossom's murder (only one of the
most recent manifestations of what could reasonably be
called a curse upon their house) to the Black Hood, a
serial killer stalking sinners

"RIVERDALE: OUR TOWN"

From Riverdale: The Maple Murders
Instapoem by Randell S.

Riverdale: our town

The valley by the river
Rests against the rushing path of the Sweetwater
Carrying on its sticky runoff of maple-tapping season

The river carries secrets

One thing we had learned since Jason vanished
It's that river has known a lifetime of secrets
Several lifetimes, to be precise.

Our town was settled long bere then

Our land holds centuries of legacy
The sinister secrets and bloodstained pages of history books
Date as far back as the very first settlers

Cousin shooting cousin

Brother with his own brother's blood on his hands
Our town knows darkness, violence and plague
Brought by people, if you'd still call them that

We were learning
We children of Riverdale that echoes remain
From Jason's murder,
To a serial killer stalking sinners.
My poem is all about a teenager/s in a town
that is rife with sinister happenings and
blood-thirsty criminals. It is about a
sheltered youths being exposed to real
world problems. Recognizing that those who
preached justice and morality in his/her
young lives are often offenders of the
same code.

The first stanza, indicates that the Riverdale is an

enchanting town and it is charming in a unique way.

In the second stanza where Jason disappear in the river of

the town, it shows that the author knows a lot of secrets
and mysteries.

In the third stanza, it indicates that there's a lot of

bad history in the town of Riverdale. In short,
Riverdale has a dark past.

In the fourth stanza, it means that innocent people are

getting killed. That these kids, they have not lived their life.
They live in a world that is dominated by war, hate, violence,
and suspicion.
In the last stanza, it denotes that Jason was murdered. And
because of that, the author needs to educate others. Despite of
the dark history of a town, it is in the hands of the childrens
and the people of the town to take action & change its dark
past to bright future. The author wants to deliver the message
that the killing of people is a sin. Great anger and violence can
never build a nation. Forget the past and remember the lesson.
Getting out from past life is like finding a way in dark place
without light. Don't get stuck in the past, instead use it to fuel
the future
