Ships of the GalCon Sector, Part I

What is this:
This document is the first in what promises to be a large series of starships designed for the Alternity
Role−Playing Game. All of the ships here have been built according to the rules set forth in the Warships
supplement by Wizards of the Coast.

What can you expect from this series:

Most of the ships highlighted will be human make, and roughly Progress Level 7 in technology. Occasionally
a system is above or below this mark (such is the case with the support system of Protostar's Neo) but in
general the ships comply with this standard. As such, although built with another campaign in mind, the craft
here fit easily within the StarDrive campaign world, although obviously the Hyperdrive systems from
GentleWeren will have to be replaced with Stardrives.

What is in this issue:

This inaugural edition outlines a few small craft that can easily be incorporated into your campaign. There is a
wide range of craft, from Starfighter to Frigate. Many are civilian models, even if they use a military hull.

What is not in this issue:

The data sheets give enough information to play an encounter with these vessels, but do not outline all of the
nitty−gritty design details. These are available upon request. If I receive enough call for them, they will appear
in future editions.

Who is behind all of this:

The evil genius behind this work is William Balvanz. You can email him at genteweren@hotmail.com and you
can investigate his Alternity website at http://alternity.i85.net.

1
Destinova Nosferatu−class Fighter
This starfighter is the most common used by
the GalCon. It stands out as a symbol of
their ever present might. The razor−thin
shape of this fighter has been a trademark
of the fighters produced by Destinova.
Packing a decent weapon onto a light and
maneuverable hull has allowed this ship to
become loved by her pilots and feared by
her adversaries. As well as military
applications, the StarKnights are notorious
for using these ships or modified models
thereof for duelling.

2
Krugzeug Raubritter−class Strike Fighter
The Krugzeug corporation usually sticks to
the manufacture of personal weaponry and
armor. They have left this mold on a couple
occasions, such as the Raubritter. It has an
enhanced plasma cannon for its weapon,
capable of full automatic fire if necessary.
With acceleration and maneuverability like a
light starfighter, a good crew in one of these
ships is a serious threat. The StarKnights
are fond of this craft, as are corsairs. This is
one of the few human fighters that can give
larger ships serious cause for concern.

3
Tenalt Banshee−class Strike Fighter
The Tenalt corporation does not believe in
light starfighters. Their few models are
heavy in every sense of the word, often
bringing exceptional firepower to the field,
often at the expense of raw speed. The
Banshee typifies their ideals with its mass
cannon, missile tube wepaon load, which
can be reloaded in a properly equipped
carrier, even in the heat of battle. This hull is
used for Tenalt's other Strike Fighter, the
Spectre, and telling them apart from a
distance is very difficult.

4
Tenalt Spectre−class Strike Fighter
Never one to rely on light starfighters, Tenalt
uses this ship as its chief small fighter. Their
few models are heavy in every sense of the
word, often bringing exceptional firepower to
the field, often at the expense of raw speed.
The Spectre functions to protect the
awesome power of the Banshee by
providing space superority. The hulls are
remarkably similar and being able to identify
exactly which model is approaching is often
impossible until it is too late.

5
Tenalt Beowulf−class Ship's Shuttle
Althought they are chiefly known for the
manufacture of heavy starfighters, the
engineers of Tenalt Spaceworks have been
known to utilize the durable Banshee hull in
the construction of other ships. The Beowulf
is a large ship's launch, but can transport up
to 100 cubic meters of cargo or short−term
seating for 20 passengers with 25 cubic
meters of cargo. The top−access hatches
make this ship easy to reconfigure for
variable loads, including cryo transport,
ammunition carrier, or prisoner transport.
They are a common sight both in system
and carried aboard larger craft.

Performance Specs
Maneuver Rating: 4
Acceleration: 3
Toughness: Small (+2 step penalty to target)
Armor: Medium Neutronite (d6+1/d6+1/d6+1)

Communications: Radio Transceiver
Sensor Suite: Multiband Radar, EM Detector
Cargo Capacity: Variable upon configuration

6
Matsusaka Samauri−class Fast Transport
Perhaps the closest thing to a military ship
from Matsusaka is the Samauri. It is often
found with convoys of haulers on escort
duty. As is characteristic with Matsusaka, it
has redundant systems and a fast
hyperdrive to help keep it out of harm's way.
One notable use for this class of starship is
smuggling. The high speed and adequate
combat performance makes it ideal for
running small, highly profitable cargo loads.

7
Matsusaka Shogun−class Hauler
The Matsusaka Corporation is known for
their products sector−wide, and the
distrubition of these wares is accomplished
by their enormous merchant fleet. The
mainstay of this successful concept is the
venerable Shogun. This ship can be found
anywhere in the sector, at any time,
transporting nearly anything. They have
even been used by corsairs and mining
companies as a base to build a warship
from.

Cargo Capacity: 800 cubic meters.

8
Protostar Developments Neo−class Starship
Built for advanced scouting missions, this
class of starship found more use with private
civilians than any military operation. Fast
and defensive, with enough cargo capacity
and crew space to be comfortable and
survivable, this is a nice ship for the price.
She is a bit underarmed, though, and some
have exchanged the missile tube for a more
direct weapon. The most dramatic feature
aboard is the symbiotic hull, a Fraal device
that places wetware inside the bulkheads for
a more efficient support system.

Performance Specs
Maneuver Rating: 4
Acceleration: 3
Toughness: Small (+2 step penalty to target)
Armor: Medium Neutronite (d6+1/d6+1/d6+1)
Defenses: Repair Bots, Deflection Inducer

Sensor Suite: Mass Detector, Multiband Radar, EM Detector, Hi−Res Video Package
Cargo Capacity: 100 cubic meters

9
Protostar Developments Naga−class Starship
Built before the more common Neo, this ship
is a great example of a versatile combat
starship. Often found at the forefront of
several mercenary convoys. The off−center
bulkhead design keeps sensors clear of
interference and the docking clamp
protected. The weapons aboard are more
than adequate to put a hole in its target, and
the inclusion of the underslung hanger
expands the tactical options available to a
Naga's crew and commander.

10
Hendriks Traveller Rajah−class Starship
Designed with the luxury user in mind, the
Rajah is a comfortable, if antiquated
starship. The large engines are sturdy and
their actuated connections allow this ship
impressive maneuverability. The rear
hanger is suitable for a private shuttle and
the craft can defend itself with three plasma
cannon turrets, leaving no exploitable
blindspot.

Performance Specs

11
Fraal Mul'Durum−class Scout
The fraal are known as the last of the
ancient races. While this may or may not be
the case, they certainly have a technology
advantage in space vehicle construction as
well as the weaponry at their disposal. The
small Mul'Durum exemplefies this by
showcasing a light chassis with two powerful
weapons and enough ship systems to keep
its six crewmen busy as it handles ships up
to twice its size with relative ease.

Performance Specs
