Item Description
A default name for the reflector will be proposed. The
name can be edited by the user.
Add New Custom Click on the Create Custom Reflector element to create a new custom
Reflector type reflector. This reflector type allows to either enter an ADM Offset for
glass prism manually or determine it by a compensation process.
ADM Offset All glass prism reflectors cause a refraction of the laser beam in the body
Compensation glass. This results in a lag of the path of the laser beam. The ADM Offset
Compensation for Custom Reflectors routine verifies this additional path
of the ADM beam. The ADM Offset can either be manually entered or
determined by the ADM Offset Compensation process.
Refer to “ADM Offset Compensation For Custom Reflector” on page 167
for details on the ADM Offset Compensation process.
Add New Mirror Click on the Create Mirror element to create a new mirror type reflector.
This target type requires no ADM Offset or reflector diameter definition.

U95 The Expanded Uncertainty U95 (k=2) value describes the confidence level
of 95% (k=2). This means when measuring the same position a hundred
times, ninety-five measurement will be below the displayed U95 value. In
the remaining five cases the U95 will be exceeded.
An increased U95 value due to variance is expected when measuring under
unstable conditions (air turbulence, vibrations etc.).
To have highest possible confidence in executed measurement a low U95
is desired.

Object Tempera- The Scale Bar Check is based upon the comparison between the nominal
ture length of a calibrated scale bar with the length determined by two
measurements from the Absolute Tracker. The nominal length of the
scale bar is dependant on the intrinsic temperature known as object
temperature. The selection of the current object temperature is recom-
mended for the Scale Bar Check.
To select the object temperature click on the following element:
The Meteo Air Sensor value is identical with the Meteo Station tempera-
ture reading.

matized to the ambient temperature, especially if the product has been
stored under different temperature conditions. Ensure sufficient acclima-
tization to the environment before taking precision measurements.
The usage of a 1.5" RRR for 3D Sensor Checks and the usage of B-Probe
is required for 6D Sensor Checks.
Selection To start a sensor check click on the menu bar element Sensor Checks and
select the desired check wizard.
Check Procedure
ADM Check must be performed with Leica 1.5" RRR reflector.
ADM Check measurements consist of the following 3-step process:
1. Measurement of two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the
Absolute Tracker AT40x from the middle of the two points.
2. Measurement of the same two fixed points, at the height of tilting
axis of the Absolute Tracker AT40x from the outside of the two
points.
3. Measurement of the same two fixed points, at the height of tilting
axis of the Absolute Tracker AT40x from the middle of the two points
as in step 1.
Move the sensor between step 1 to 3. Do not move the reflector posi-
tions.
Space Requirement The required room space for the ADM Check is 6 meter. Minimum room
height is 2 meter.
Recommended The recommended setup for the ADM Check is shown below:
Setup 1. Station 1: ADM - Measurements Inside 1
The ADM Check allows to measure more than three stations. An additional
station is only completed when repeating the measurement point with
ID1 and ID2.
The title of the report page is changed from “ADM Check“ to “ADM

The deviation of new and active ADM Offset is 5 um, or
Expanded uncertainty (k=2) of adjusted parameter is
exceeded.
In case the ADM Check fails the check should be repeated once. If the
ADM Check fails again, an ADM Compensation is recommended.
Refer to “ADM Compensation” on page 160 for details on the ADM
Compensation.
Check Procedure Angle Check measurements consist of the following 2-step process:
1. Measurement of three points at a steep angle at a given distance,
below tilting axis of the Absolute Tracker AT40x, ideally points at floor
level, or above tilting axis.
2. Measurement of three points at a given distance, ideally on a line, at
the height of tilting axis of the Absolute Tracker AT40x.
Space Requirement The required room space for the Angle Check is 5 meter. Minimum room
height is 2 meter.
Required Setup The Angle Check can be performed by two independent setups according
to the initial reflector position in relation to the Absolute Tracker AT40x
tilting axis.
The required setup for the Angle Check is shown for a reflector position

Table bottom half of the screen for each station.
The Image RMS compares the actual position of the B-Probes’ LEDs in
relation to the centre of the reflector on the B-Probe and the compensa-
tion file of the B-Probe.
Image RMS values out of tolerance can be caused by to three possible
error sources:
• Imaging sensor produces a distorted image and needs to be re-
compensated.
• Wrong B-Probe selected.
Application If sensor check does not provide satisfying results repeatedly, a compen-
sation of the product is recommended.
A compensation allows to refresh and adjust Absolute Tracker parameter
changes.
Before starting to work the product has to become warmed up and accli-
matized to the ambient temperature, especially if the product has been
stored under different temperature conditions. Ensure sufficient acclima-
tization to the environment before taking precision measurements. To
achieve the highest possible accuracy level a warm up time of two hours
is strongly recommended before starting a compensation or a high preci-
sion measurement job.
Best Practice To achieve the highest possible accuracy, the following steps are recom-
mended:
• Set up the Absolute Tracker on a stable ground and level it accurately.
• Environmental parameters should remain constant during the
compensation.
• The Absolute Tracker needs to be warmed up for 2 hours before
starting the compensation. A pop-up message will be displayed once
the system is warmed up.
• A Leica RRR 1.5’’ reflector is required for compensations.
• The reflector should be clean and undamaged.
• The ideal reflector position for the initialization should be at 8m
from the sensor.
General The Angle Compensation routine verifies the system geometry (horizontal
and vertical collimation). Large ambient temperature changes may require
to perform an Angle Compensation.
Space Requirement The required room space for the Angle Check is 5 meter. Minimum room
height is 2 meter.
Required Setup The Angle Compensation can be performed by two independent setups
according to the initial reflector position in relation to the Absolute
Tracker AT40x tilting axis.
The required setup for the Angle Compensation is shown for a reflector
position below tilting axis:
Flip between the above two setups by moving the reflector along the
stand axis of the Absolute Tracker AT40x up or down.

General The ADM Compensation routine verifies the zero point offset of the ADM
in relation to the origin of the Tracker coordinate system. Large ambient
temperature changes may require to perform an ADM Compensation.
Move the sensor between step 1 to 3. Do not move the reflector posi-
tions.
Space Requirement The required room space for the Angle Check is 6 meter. Minimum room
height is 2 meter.
Measurements All measurements taken are listed in the Measurements table on the
Table bottom half of the screen.
