Well actually I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't get this topic
because to be completely honest with you I'm not a bookworm so as
you can imagine I'm not particularly fond of reading but I cannot say the same for The Divergent a sci-fi novel authored by the acclaimed American novelist Veronica Roth. Well actually the book was recommended to me by my university classmate back in 2019 when I was still a freshman in university and I gotta say that the plot of the book is so captivating you know it is such a real page-turner that it had me from page 1 so here's how the story goes, so the story is set in a futuristic Chicago where society is divided into five factions and when a child turns 16. They'll get to decide whether to stay with their family or abandon them and you know for Beatrice Pryor the protagonist, is difficult because she constantly struggles to figure out what to do. So when she takes the aptitude test which places people in a particular group, Tris expects to be placed in abnegation where her family belongs but she gets some surprising results and she made a decision that shocks everyone including herself. In this story there were an expected romances, tough battles and extreme bravery shown through Tris that she didn't even know she had in her. The Divergent sends out a very strong message about identity, about searching your soul and determining who you are and how you fit in as you transition from adolescence to adulthood. For me I could really relate to the story as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life at the time of reading the novel. So anyway the book became such a big hit that it was even adapted into movies I haven't got the time to read the other two sequels though but I'm definitely going to check them out soon, so if you guys need a recommendation for sci-fi books you gotta give this a try guys I'm sure it's gonna be well worth your time.
