Plan and Design #1

Problem Statement: Tom noticed that the rebound of a tennis ball is different with different height
release. Plan and design an experiment to determine which height release gives the greatest
rebound.

Hypothesis: (You are required to propose a hypothesis)

Aim: To determine if the height of rebound is directly proportional to the initial drop height of the
tennis ball.

Apparatus and Materials: Tape measure, tennis ball, ruler, vertical section of a wall, flat horizontal
surface.

Method: (You are required to design the method for this lab. Please do sufficient research.)

Expected Results: (You are required to design the table of expected results and give it a suitable title
You need state what trend you EXPECT to notice from the experiment.)

Variables:

Controlled-

Manipulated-

Responding:

Precautions: Identify necessary precaution(s) that can help improve this lab.

Errors: Identify possible error(s) that can occur in this lab.

Notes:

 This is a PD lab. Due to this, there will be no values nor calculation, hence the lab itself would
be shorter. Marks are allotted for the components in the lab itself and the design of the lab
in relation to the hypotheses.
 Ensure you do sufficient research for this lab. You are mainly required on your OWN to
design the method, table of results and state errors and precautions. The other content has
been provided for you.
 You would notice that the diagram, discussion, and conclusion components are missing. This
is due to the fact that they are not necessary for this type of lab.
 I personally consider PD labs to be tiresome. I recommend you begin promptly and submit
drafts so that I can check over.
 PLEASE DO NOT PUT THIS IN YOUR LAB BOOK YET. Do it in scrap and submit a draft if you
desire.
