What is the most important contribution of mathematics in humankind?
It helped us how to solve numerical problems by learning mathematical solutions. It
helped us understand the contents of other subjects like science, social studies, and
even music and art. People use mathematics in their day-to-day life even if it is a
farmer, doctor, carpenter or a musician. It encourages creative thinking, logical thinking,
and spatial thinking. Mathematics can also be helpful for balancing the people’s budget
because it will have a good understanding of how to make sure that your costs are less
than the money you have.
II. Identify what type of sequence is the one below and supply the sequence with the
next two terms:
1. 1, 4, 7, 10, (13), (16)? Type of Sequence: Arithmetic Sequence
Explain: There is a common difference in each term. Therefore, adding 3 to the
previous term in the sequence gives the next term.

2. 80, 40, 20, (10), (5)? Type of Sequence: Geometric Sequence

Explain: The sequence is formed by division. Their common ratio is 2.

3. 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, (13), (21)? Type of Sequence: Fibonacci Sequence

Explain: The next number is found by adding up the two numbers before it.

4. 56, 46, 36, 26, (16), (6)? Type of Sequence: Arithmetic Sequence
Explain: The common difference in each term is constant and equal to 10.

5. 2, 20, 200, 2000, (20,000), (200,000)? Type of Sequence: Geometric Sequence

Explain: There is a common ratio between each term. Therefore, multiplying the
previous term in the sequence by 10 gives the next term.

1. Market – Mathematical Operation, Ratio, and Proportion.

Mathematical Operation is for calculating how much we will pay. Ratio and
Proportion is for measuring the right number of things we will buy.

2. Bus/ Jeepney – Estimation and Mathematical Operations

I used estimation when I am transporting. I used it for estimating on how many
minutes do I travel until I reach my house. For the Mathematical Operation, it helps
me on checking my exchange if it is exact or not after paying the right amount of
fare.
3. Church – Estimation, Ratio and Proportions
Estimating on how many people will attend and using ratio and proportions, for
preparing the amount of communion bread that will be served.
4. Court – Probability
It is used in the court for getting the probability of how a lawyer wins the case. And
predicting a situation that can be used for evidence.
5. Birthday Party – Estimation, Ratio and Proportions
To estimate the exact amount of foods to be served for those people who will attend
the birthday party.
