Spring Semester 2014-2015
EEE 1201: Electrical Circuits - 1 (DC)
1. Course Outline:
2. Course Description:
This is the fundamental course for engineering. This course will cover the basic things
like Units, DC sources, resistance and conductance, Ohm’s law along with the advanced topics
like Y-Delta conversion, Transient analysis of R-C and R-L circuits with DC excitation.
3. Objectives:
Learn both the fundamental and advanced topics regarding DC circuits. They should be able to
utilize their skills to solve any DC circuit using different circuit theorems and transient analysis
method taught in the class.
4. Teaching Method:
1
Maximum topics will be covered from the textbook. For the Rest of the topics, reference
books will be followed. Some Class notes will be uploaded on the web. White board will be
used for most of the time.
For some cases, multimedia projector will be used for the convenience of the students.
Students must study up to the last lecture before coming to the class and it is suggested
that they should go through the relevant chapter before coming to the class. Just being present
in the class is not enough- students must participate in classroom discussions.

7. Evaluation Policy:
The final grade for this class will be based on the points achieved on the following areas:
8. Grading System:
The grading system will be strictly followed as par the AIUB grading policy. The following
grading system will be strictly followed in this class.

The assessment:
Midterm
Final term
Total grade in100% = 40%from mid term + 60% from final term
Marks of best two class tests will be taken out of 3 class tests for both Midterm and Final term. (No makeup class
test will be taken.)
9. Assessment rationale:
The examinations will consist of both short and broad questions regarding dc circuits.
