1. Review (10 mins)
a. Check and compare paraphrased sentences
i. Check sentences if it makes sense
ii. Find the other ways to paraphrase sentences from their pair
b. Check answers Q skills activity B
i. Share answers with peers in small groups
ii. Check answers in a whole group

2. Review reading #2, paragraph #6-#10 (35 mins)


a. Discussion Questions (10 mins)
i. What does this author talk about in paragraph #6 - #10?
ii. What are advantages of using technology in the reading#2?
iii. What are disadvantages/problem of using technology in the classroom?
iv. What are three solutions to some problems?
 Do you agree with them?
b. Summarize author’s ideas in reading #2 (25 mins)
i. Show example of summary
 Main ideas
 Supporting details
ii. Write down the summary of author’s idea in 2-3 sentences
 Identify the main ideas and supporting details of advantages of using
technology
 Identify the main ideas and supporting details of disadvantage of using
technology
3. In-class Writing: Personal Response Paragraph (20 mins)
a. Explain the personal response paragraph
i. Agree or disagree with the ideas in the reading #2
ii. Reasons why you agree or disagree with the reading #2
b. Work on the outline
i. Topic sentence
ii. Three reasons and examples of student’s opinion
iii. Concluding sentence

a. Q skills: activity C, D, & E (pp.67 - 68)
b. Keep working on the personal response paragraph
c. Read Whirligig, Chapter 4 by 12/2
