1-PICK YOUR FAVORITE


Ask everyone in your family what their favorite

vegetables are. Make a list and choose a few

that everyone likes 2-FIND SOME DIRT



Your parents might already have a garden, so ask

if you can be in charge of a small section to grow

the veggies you chose. If you don't have a yard, a

lot of plants, like tomatoes and peppers, grow very

well in containers.

3-SOW THE SEEDS


Most veggies, like

cucumbers, corn, beans, and carrots grow from seeds.

Others, like broccoli and tomatoes, are small plants that

you'll put into your garden or containers. Ask your parent to

take you to a nursery (a store where plants and seeds are 4-GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY
sold) and help you choose the seeds and plants Follow the instructions on the seed packet,

making sure to put the seeds deep

enough and giving them

5-WATER WATER
WATER
Growing plants need a lot of sunlight and

water. Make sure you

tend them very day!

6-HAVE PATIENCE

Some veggies are ready in early summer. Others

don't mature until late summer or early autumn. It's

hard to wait, but it will be worth it!

7-ENJOY YOUR HARVEST

Think about how you would like to eat your veggies.

Maybe it's raw on a salad or cooked into a favorite dish.

No matter how you have them, be proud that you grew

fresh food for your family!
