Sono una mezzelfa, figlia di un umano e di un’elfa


dei boschi. Mio padre, un armaiolo dai capelli color
grano di nome Dorian, mi prese con sé quando se
ne dovette andare dalla foresta dove vive tutt’ora
mia madre, Althaea. Ce ne dovemmo andare
quando, per la prima volta, si manifestarono su di
me i segni caratteristici dei Galanodel: gli occhi
argentei, del colore della luna (dal quale deriva il
nome della mia famiglia elfica), e i capelli sul blu
che cambiano colore in base all’umore. Nessuno,
infatti, sapeva che ero la figlia di Althaea e se
Hadarai, suo padre, l’avesse scoperto, ci avrebbe
inseguito dovunque pur di uccidere mio padre e
me. I miei genitori decisero di separarsi
per il bene di entrambi e per il mio; ma un volta
all’anno io e mio padre andavamo nella foresta di ,
la terra natale di mia madre, e stavamo con lei per
qualche settimana. Durante uno di questi viaggi,
nelle terre di confine, venimmo attaccati da dei
Orchi e mio padre diede la vita per salvare la mia.
Presi la sua spada e sul suo cadavere giurai che
avrei dedicato la mia vita ad annientare quelle
bestie che l’avevano ucciso. Eressi la mia
casupola lì e da allora dò la caccia ai mostri nelle
terre di confine; se non lo facessi io, i regnanti non
manderebbero nessuno a proteggere quei luoghi.
È per questo che se
ho bisogno di qualcosa la rubo a quei sudici
signorotti. Una volta, un paio di anni fa, mi
beccarono mentre rubavo al conte della zona delle
importanti pergamene e mi sguinzagliarono dietro
un gruppo di guardie che mi portarono in fin di
vita. Mi salvò un nano della mia stessa età di
nome Adrik. Vissi al sicuro con lui per qualche
tempo, e mi insegnò il nanico. Poi arrivò un branco
di gnoll e distrussero la sua famiglia. Imponemmo
un secondo giuramento sulla mia spada e sul suo
martello. Ci separammo qualche mese dopo,
quando mi resi conto del mio bisogno di continui
cambiamenti. Da allora non l’ho più visto. Animata
da un insaziabile desiderio di viaggiare, visitai
molti luoghi, e solo a 18 anni andai a fare visita a
mia madre. Mi riconobbe per i miei occhi, quel
giorno verdi: gli occhi di mio padre e i capelli
