Topic: Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements,

and this is a bad example to adolescents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Essay:
There is a widely held belief that famous figures nowadays are more well-known for their glitz
and fortune than their accomplishments, which sets a negative example for teenagers. Personally
speaking, I partly concur with this viewpoint by virtue of several rationales.
On the one hand, it is not unjustifiable claiming that illustrious individuals in this day and age are
better acknowledged for their beauty and affluence rather than their accomplishments. A myriad of fans
nowadays, especially juvenile ones with impressionable and immature minds have the propensity for
being impressed with pure glamor and lavish life. Thus, various people with formidable talent and
remarkable achievements are left unnoticed just because of their inferior appearance and fortune.
Furthermore, the entertainment industry and the media are also held culpable for this practice. To
exemplify, plenty of inept artists are hired and promoted owing to their family backgrounds and charming
appearance, and brands coupled with advertisement companies usually prioritized good-looking people.
Therefore, youngsters are put under the false impression that beauty and wealth outstrip personalities and
talents when it comes to keys to success.
On the other hand, there exists a host of people upholding reverence for brilliant artists with
outstanding attainments. They are apprehensive of the hard work, great effort, and real competence and
appreciate the artists. For instance, the Korean boy band BTS is gaining stature globally nowadays
although they hardly display their wealth and glamor. Instead, their passion for music, talent, and virtues
are the lynchpin of their rise to stardom. Their music speaks for the youth, and all campaigns they
spearheaded convey deep meanings, hence they obtain recognition from people of diverse ages. Korean
President Moon Jae-in even appoints BTS as “Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and
Culture” for their accomplishments. Besides, a variety of people are inspired by BTS, and they also make
great efforts to emulate the band.
To recapitulate, I admit that some renowned people are known for their money and opulent life
instead of their accomplishments, yet the quantity is small, and most talented celebrities are recognized by
others. Thereby, the general public should be more selective in choosing their role models and admire
what is deserved.
