MISSIONARY RESPONSE:
The mission is both a gift and a responsibility. How will you fulfill your calling of being a
missionary amidst the technological advancements of today?

TECHNOLOGY can help Christians spread the word of God through social media, blogs and
Twitter. SPREADING the word of God is now only a few keystrokes away. Technology can now
be used to help Christians spread the word of God through social media, blogs and Twitter
With Technology, there is more opportunity to share the gospel with others. Through Advances
in technology we are able to create websites such as Bible Reasons. We are able to share our
faith through blog posts, through the radio, Facebook, Twitter, TV, YouTube, etc.

Oftentimes, social media serves as a way for us to promote the best, most successful version of
ourselves. In order to do this, we need to appear likable and approachable in an online culture
because one mistake or unpopular opinion can have your follower count drop like flies.
Maintaining your online reputation is, in our society today, a crucial aspect of maintaining the
reputation you have with people face to face.

As a Christian, this means that many of us have two choices. We only follow people and have
followers who are accepting of our faith, or we choose not to display our Christian walk online so
as not to offend those who do not believe. Unfortunately, the reputation of Christianity today is
not exactly one where its followers are perceived as open-minded and loving, so it can be hard
to speak freely about your faith when there is a very real possibility that people will react
negatively to it.

There are some several ways to share the words of God online

1.Share videos from preachers who post sermon clips on social media.
Sometimes pastors and ministers can really bring a point home and provide clarity on the nature
of God better than we as individuals are sometimes capable of doing.

2.Post a beautiful image to your story, then add worship music and a scripture to it.
People love seeing beautiful, aesthetic images on their feeds. Add in the Word of God and it can
help others see how beautiful our Creator is.

3.Reveal the ups and downs of your journey with Jesus.

Christians have Jesus, but that doesn’t mean our lives are perfect and always happy. Sharing
your struggles and how God has helped you displays His power and ability much more than
when you only talk about the highs while neglecting to mention the lows. There are no perfect
Christians, so don’t create the false idea of one to others who may need to see a God who
embraces the broken and imperfect before they are willing to enter His presence.
4. Use your platform to spread awareness about organizations that help those in need.
Let’s combat the negative views people have about the church by showing them that we do care
about everything God has created, whether that means supporting women’s shelters or
donating to relief efforts. Share your experiences volunteering at local soup kitchens and aid
organizations and encourage others to get involved however they can.

5.Spread uplifting messages rather than complaining about what is wrong in with our
society today.
There is so much to complain about in this life, and it can be easy to repost another message
about how frustrating it is that others just don’t seem to care enough. In a time when it feels like
all we hear is how much we all are different, let’s instead remind each other that God unites us
all under Jesus. Our identity is not tied to earthly connections, but rather to who we are in Christ.
Spreading love will always stick out much better than sticking to the usual routine of complaints
and disappointment that we tend to see on social media.

6.Translate church teaching.if you pour out documents or list a series of them online, you're
not spreading the Gospel, you're simply creating an electronic file box. A document drop might
help someone with his dissertation but it won't help us follow the command to go forth and teach
all nations. Teachers have to translate church teaching into popular speech. The evangelizer is
a translator.

7.Avoid church speak. Some phrases create barriers to communications. "Intrinsically evil," for
example, may earn an A on a theology paper but can merit an F in human discourse. Which
drives home the message: "Abortion is wrong because it snuffs out innocent life" or "abortion is
intrinsically evil"? One tells you what really happened. A second example of church speak is the
word "presbyterate," which emphasizes the distance between priests and people. There's more
warmth in speaking about "our priests." "Presbyterate" sounds pejorative, as in "Listen, you
presbyterate!"

8.Use images, as Jesus did.God's love is a freebie; you can't earn it, you just have to accept it.
Which sentence conveys that? "God's love is infinite and you have inherent value" or "You're
more important than the sparrows who only have to exist for God to feed them"? The image
gives you something to hold on to, even if you don't like worms.

9Understand that social media is social. It's like going to a party. You can't sit in a corner and
not converse. If you want to make a statement to which no one can reply, buy a billboard. Social
media is electronic conversation. To engage in it you need to be willing to listen to others and
converse with them.

10.Social media sometimes calls for a suit of armor.Anonymity lets incivility into the living
room. Wearing emotional armor, you can handle disagreement, not take it personally, and learn
from it. Social media is not for the thin-skinned.
