The Borda Count method in voting is one where the voter ranks the candidates in order

of their preference and the winner will be based on the one who has the most preferred vote in
relation to their ranking. This is an interesting voting method that must be looked upon and
considered in many elections. First, there is a sense of accommodation of the plurality of
candidates where we can effectively proclaim a winner based on who is most preferred. Unlike
the usual majority voting, there is only an all-or-nothing approach on who we would like to win.

In this method, we can see that the one elected is the most preferred candidate of every
voter, and not just the majority population. In this manner, everyone has a say on who they
would like to rank first. This makes it more inclusive and has a wider approach in terms of
interpreting the real inclination of the voting population. This is important since voting is a form
of electing who will be the representative of the people. Therefore, in this sense, while not
everyone favors who will be the winner, it will be shown that the winning candidate is the most
preferred one by all of the voters.

Another upside of this method is the ability to have a multiple winner. This is helpful
when the voting population are trying to choose representatives for a council with multiple
seats. They would then only have to rank the candidates instead of voting for just one and
totaling the complete ballots. In the latter, people will just have to choose a specific number
thereby limiting their options. However, in the Borda count, they can always rank first to last
and let their collective vote decide.

Just like any other method, the Borda count is not free from technical manipulation.
There can always be compromising or burying of data. However, it cannot be denied that the
Borda count is strategic in its tallying of the votes. Moreover, there will be a comprehensive
interpretation of the data of the ballots when this method is used. Hence, this is a method that
must be considered by many organizations and other entities that employs an election for the
choosing of their heads.
The Huntington-Hill method of apportionment is e where assigned seats are made by
the use of geometric mean and the yield of those votes who has the minimal percentage
difference. This method is used by the United States House of Representatives.

The US House of Representatives is the perfect example for this method since they are
composed of several autonomous states. In this manner, each state is assigned a number of
representative seats and then elected through the qualification quote. This is important since
not all states have guaranteed number of seats. The proclamation of winners will depend on
different factors like the population number of a state.

In this method, there is a complex but calculated process of arriving at the eligible seats
of a particular denominator. Hence, in order to secure a seat, there must be enough population
that is valued to be worthy of representation. This is crucial in multi-state countries so that
even the minorities are given an equal weight of votes to those of the majority. This is what
makes the method interesting whereby there is a requirement of a large multi-member district
in order for it to function accurately.

Due to this method, the US House of Representatives have a very competitive practice
of election. This is to ensure that the winner is someone who will be a representation to a
selected group. While this entails that there won’t be any guaranteed seats, there is a promise
of opportunity for everyone. Moreover, this method was used by the country in order to have a
sense of regularity in the future and avoiding chance of underrepresentation especially when
the population count is growing. Therefore, this is a method that works well in specific cases
like that of the United States and must be carefully practiced in order for the real voice of the
people to be heard once the ballots are casted.
