SECTION 3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS :

INHALATION :
Product dust may be irritating respiratory tract. Because of its low volatility and low concentration in the product,
phenol is not expected to present a significant vapor inhalation hazard at ambient temperature.
Phenol vapor may present a hazard during heat curing if ventilation is poor.
Over-exposure to phenol vapors can cause irritation to the respiratory system, central nervous system effects
(headaches, dizziness, unco-ordination and nausea) and damage to the lungs, kidneys and liver.

SKIN CONTACT :
Product dust may cause irritation (Skin Irritation-Rabbit on a series of phenolic resins similar to this product was
typically 0.0~3.0 on a scale of 8.0 ie. Practically Non-irritating to Slightly Irritating)
The product is unlikely to be harmful by skin contact (Dermal LD50-Rabbit on a series of phenolic resins

similar to this product was greater than 5000 mg/kg ie. Practically Non-Toxic)
Skin sensitisation is possible (due to formaldehyde based resin).

EYE CONTACT :
Product dust may cause irritation (Eye Irritation-Rabbit on a series of phenolic resins similar to this product was
typically 10~40 on a scale of 110.0 ie. Slightly Irritating to Moderate Irritating)
Vapors emitted during heat curing may be irritating to the eyes (See "INHALATION" above)

SWALLOWED :
Considered to be practically non harmful (Oral LD50-Rat on a series of phenolic resins
similar to this product was in the range of greater than 2500 mg/kg to greater than 5000 mg/kg ie.
Practically Non-Toxic to Slightly Toxic)

CHRONIC :
Repeated excessive exposure to phenol may cause central nervous system effects (including
breathing and movement difficulties and paralysis), digestive disturbances and liver and
kidney effects. Prolonged or repeated skin contact with the powder may cause sensitisation
resulting in allergic contact dermatitis in susceptible people (due to formaldehyde based resin)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------
SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------
INHALATION :
When safe to enter area, remove from exposure. Use a bag valve mask or similar device to perform artificial
respiration (rescue breathing) if needed. Keep warm and at rest. Get medical attention immediately.

SKIN CONTACT :
Remove contaminated clothing, jewelry, and shoes immediately. Wash with soap or mild
detergent and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15-20 minutes).
Get medical attention if irritation persists.

EYE CONTACT :
Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids,
until no evidence of chemical remains. Continue irrigating with normal saline until ready to transport to hospital.
Cover with sterile bandages. Get medical attention immediately.

INGESTION :
Contact local poison control center or physician immediately. Never make an unconscious
person vomit or drink fluids. When vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration.
If person is unconscious, turn head to side. Get medical attention immediately.
NOTE TO PHYSICIAN :
For inhalation, consider oxygen. For ingestion, consider gastric lavage and activated charcoal slurry.
