Part 3- Legal foundation of Education


1. What are the fundamental laws that the school administrators, supervisors and
teachers need to know about republic act No. 9155.
Without education it is hard to achieve something, that is why the
Philippine government cheated the republic act No. 9155 the purpose of this
policy is that state should protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality
education and to make such education accessible to all by providing all Filipino
children a tree and compulsory education in the elementary level and free
education in the high school level.
Education shall also include alternative learning systems for out of school
youth and adult learners. The educators need to know this policy to avoid
discriminations to poor students and adult learners. And to avoid educators using
their authorities in exploiting the weak and uneducated citizens. The educators
should know that it is their job to provide quality education to every students.

2. What is the significance of this code of ethics to your preparation as a teacher in


the future?
Being a teacher is hard and needs a lot of patience and dedication. It is
very important to know the code of ethics to avoid doing the wrong things. As a
future educator code of ethics helps us behave in a manner that is socially
acceptable and respectful to one another.

3. Why is education a function of the state of the Philippines?


Because education is the key of all development and the state should give
top priority to its educational field for a better future of the people and the
country. And also to provide funds and free education to all people and helps
strengthen the educational institution.

4. How do you assess the provision of the constitution in relation to present


educational practices?
Constitution is the supreme Law of a country and should ensure that those
make decisions on behalf of the public fairly represent public opinion. Assessing
the provision of constitution in relation to education should answer these
questions:
a. Does the constitution promotes quality education?
b. Does the current curriculum ensures bright future to students and
provide positive changes to student attitudes or academic behaviour.
5. Explain the acts that constitute the legal bases of education in the Philippines.
A knowledge of the legal system provides the foundation from which one
can begin to understand and apply the principles of constitutional administrative
and judicial law to the school setting. There are many acts that constitute the
legal basis of education in the Philippines. One of the main acts is the 1987
constitutions article VIV section 1-5 in which the state shall protect and promote
the right of all citizens to quality of education at all levels and shall take
appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.
The other two major legal basis are the 1935 constitution article XIV
section 5 and the 1973 constitution article 5 section 8. All these three major acts
have the same purpose and it is to provide free and quality education to all and
create a bright future.
