Getting Started

We separate keywords into 2 parts, topic and entity.

Topic is to briefly describe what the video is talking about, while entity refers to the specific
elements that the video is talking about.
For example, a video is showing a dog fight with a cat，the topic can be animal fight, and entities
are dog and cat.

Entity Word Definition：

Entity refers to specific things such as celebrity’s name, place name, film/song/book/scenery
name. Usually it should be a noun. Adjective, verbs are not considered as entities.

Examples:
Famous people’s name Amir Khan

Team’s name Westlife, Backstreet boys, Lakers

Specific occupations Doctor, teacher, scientist，dentist, police, etc

Certain groups Student, graduate，kid, the disable, homelessness

( P.S. boy, girl, adult, man, woman, mother, father,
sister, wife, husband and so on are not considered as
entities)

Film/series name Titanic，Dangal

Song name Yesterday Once More

Place name (including India, Karnataka, Bangalore, Taj Mahal, United States,
city/state/country/famous USA, America
building name)

Book/literature name Pride and Prejudice

Animal name （Animals that Dog, cat, snake, elephant

mentioned in tagtree can also be
considered as entities）

Food name Rice, cucumber, apple

Event name Olympics, NBA, World Cup

brand names Samgsung, Forest essentials, Panasonic

Organization WTO，World Health Organization

Festival name Diwali, Holi

 Products name printer, table, sofa，phone, laptop (no need to consider
different brands)

Things that exist Earth, Mars, moon, mountain, river, flower

Things that not sure exist or not Alien, God, ghost

TV show name American Talent Show, Voice of China

Disease‘s name Heart attack, stomach cancer, Metabolic Syndrome

others Capitalism , democracy, terrorism, BJP

P.S.
For words like flower, mountain, sea, ocean,etc, no need to consider categories under them.
Example, flower, jasmine, mountain, himalaya, all are entities.

❌Bad cases 1: Entity should be specified

❌Bad cases 2: name should be full name with correct spellings, first letter in capital letter

❌Bad cases 3: noun. Adjective, verbs，adverb are not entities

❌Bad cases 4: nouns that are not referred to specific entities

❌Bad cases 5: Radio Station name, TV channel names are not considered as entities, because the
content covered is not specified. But the specific TV show names can be entities.

❌Bad cases 6：
Website’s names, TV/radio channel names are not entity as they conclude lots of different
contents

Rules: Entity should be relevant to videos. Not all the entities showing in the videos
should be given as entities.
Example:

Video is talking about poli recipe, so the entity is focused on poli only. Maida and
water are ingredients to make poli, but the video meant to show poli instead of
maida, thus maida is not an entity in this video.

2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lpo1hl5Ngh4
Video is focus on monkey, feeding bottle is not an entity

Topic Word Definition：

Usually a topic should include at least 2 words to describe an entity under certain
preconditions or specific fields. And normally it comes as Adjective+noun but there are
many other cases.
Below are some detailed definitions and examples.

1.单个名词一般不作为主题词
1.Single words usually are not considered as topic
❌Bad examples: gameplay, astrology
Reason: Since a topic is used to describe a video, usually a topic should be at least 2 words.
2.修饰语需在特定垂类下且指代性强，不可过于宽泛
2.Modifiers/adjectives should be under certain conditions or fields, and
the range shouldn’t be too broad or too specific.
❌ Too general bad cases:
1) Location names + news: Bangalore news
Reason：There are many fields of news like entertainment, political, military and so on. City name is
too broad to describe news.

2) Radio Station + news: BBC news, CNN news

3) Breaking news, daily news, local news, Asian news

Reason：The modifiers are not specific, should be specified to certain fields.
Here we define news to be a special word. Bangalore news is not considered as topic, but
Bangalore food, Bangalore sceneries, Asian food can be considered as topic.

❌ Too detailed bad cases:

❌Bad cases: Short films, long stories, good news

4.修饰语正确但是语序不对的
4.Topics are correct but the language order is wrong.
❌Bad cases: song love, moments surprising
For these kinds of topic we need to correct them.
5.有些纯名词也可以作为主题
5.Some pure nouns can be topics
Examples：car crash, home decorating

6.有些动词+名词也可以作为主题
6.Some verb+noun can be topics
Examples：lose weight, learn English
P.S.: weight lossing, English learning can be accepted as well.

7. 如非必要，不使用“how to”
7. Avoid using “how to” unless it’s necessary.
Examples:
How to overcome difficulty ❌ overcome difficulty ✅
How to cook chicken ❌ chicken recipe ✅
How to read mind ❌ mind reading ✅
How to be confident ✅ （it will be weried without "how to“，so it's acceptable）

8. Avoid using superlative words like best, top, most, ect. Use XX
ranking to replace top/most.

How to give keywords to videos

1. Topic and entity should be based on the video topic, don’t

give unimportant or unrelated entities
❌Bad case: in this video, sofa itself is an entity, but in this video, the focus is on the cat. So entity is
cat, not sofa

2. Topic’s range: Not too broad, not too narrow/detailed

 3. If the video title describes the topic well, select keywords in
the title to be a topic
❌Bad case:

Climate change is good enough

4. If the title is too long, figure out a topic based on the video
content

5. Don’t use words like top, most, best, least ect. For these
types of video, give topic XXX ranking
