UNEMPLOYMENT

Being One of the most dreaded happenings by every government in a state where its active youth,
young and vibrant seek employment but are unable to secure employment either end up seeking for
jobs below their skill level (underemployment) or continue their Israelite voyage of seeking for a job. The
case of other countries is less complicated as it government put various measures to ensure that the
frustration of unemployment is mitigated but the case of Nigeria is an interesting one.

Nigeria dubbed the giant of Africa makes one wonder if truly it's should be considered, as a major
attribute of giants are youth, vibrant, energetic, resourceful, productive but with over 100million+ of its
youth (the better help of its population) are unemployed can it be productive as we were made to
believe?

We know unemployment has various types but the case of Nigeria can be traced to one source which is
Politics, yes politics. 90% of it youth can't secure a job because they don't know anyone who could
recommend them or are not related to the person in charge of employment or are in the wrong state
seeking employment meaning the youths are a victim of the invisible political war going on as those in
any position of government most consider those related to them irrespective of them not qualifying for
the job both for formal or informal employment. It might shock you to know that recently a verdict was
passed that the NYSC certificate, which we all know is a major certificate to secure jobs for either public
or private offices, was not needed to secure a public office job because the defendant in question, as
expected, was a high ranking personality in the political sphere mean for common Nigeria without NYSC
or connection no formal employment. The informal sector is not left behind because in other for one to
secure a government grant it's either you sort your way or be gracious enough to be informed to send
your required detail by a political office holder with apportioned slots for the grant not taking into
consideration those that could utilize this fund to create employment and still pay tax

One unforeseen outcome, like the Pandora box, of unemployment is the negative effect it has on the
country in general as there's is an invincible thick line that connects it to violence, insecurity, robbery,
political violence which makes one wonder if this was the so reason the political cabal decides to keep
the larger population unemployed as it rightly says “He Who controls the food supply controls the
people" in other words one can say who controls money can control the people which explain how
effective they spread their political propaganda by throwing case or distributing food deceiving as well
as manipulating the majority to its propaganda. It's high time we the youth wake up from this gimmicks.

Nigeria since independence has been moving in circles as no new development has been noticeable
despite its promising dream because its productive population has been made dependent rather than
independent. The only redemption the one time giant of Africa can have to redeem its name like the
days it basks in the aura and pride when its name it's called is to get its youth being productive by
eradication the old to give way for the new because what we tolerance we can't change
