IN COLLABORATION WITH

APP TAMILNADU STATE BRANCH

APP AUSTRALIAN
INTERNATIONAL BRANCH
Objective
Since early 2020 to date, pharmacy schools and colleges around the world are facing unprecedented challenges to
ensuring sustainable educational practices amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, each day has brought
different challenges about the disease, updated case numbers, extreme government announcements and changing
travel policies have influenced the wide fraternity of the pharmacy educators and students. The theme of this conference
intends to share the global experiences of pharmacy educators in delivering emergency remote teaching; supporting
isolated students; facing difficulties with the logistic and technological needs; communicating with colleagues, students
and staff; identifying modes to continue academic research and supporting the placement-related opportunities to
eligible students along with other personal and professional challenges. Pharmaceutical Sciences is a dynamic and
interdisciplinary field that aims to integrate fundamental principles of physical and organic chemistry, engineering,
biochemistry, and biology to understand how to optimize delivery of drugs to the body and translate this integrated
understanding into new and improved therapies against human disease. The pharmaceutical sciences combine a broad
range of scientific disciplines that are critical to the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies. Drug
discovery and design deals with the design and synthesis of new drug while drug delivery is concerned with the design
of dosage forms such as tablets, injections or patches that will deliver the drug to the site of action in a patient. Drug
action examines how the drug itself actually works in a living system and clinical sciences are concerned with the use
of drugs in the treatment of diseases. Particular properties of new drugs such as efficacy, adverse effects, drug-to-drug
interaction and bioavailability are determined in clinical trials in humans. Regulatory affairs promotes communication,
understanding, and cooperation between scientists from industry and academia and the regulatory authorities worldwide
who govern approval and distribution, by means of developing regulatory guidelines. With these, the conference will
provide a forum to discuss the role that this pandemic has played in stimulating new possibilities for vital educational
modalities across the world and how they can be best executed to further the sustainable pharmacy education and
research in post-pandemic era.
