The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory
Science is both challenging and rewarding. Our faculty and staff are
dedicated to provide you with a high caliber program. The quality of our
program is reflected in our success assisting you in reaching your
educational and professional goals.
This handbook is designed to guide you through the phases of the
program. Information regarding the College, advising, and the curriculum is
included for your reference in devising your personal plan of action for your
time with us. Should you have additional questions, please stop in the office,
or call to schedule an appointment. We look forward to working with you!
The College of Medical Technology is part of the CEFI. Bachelor of
Science in Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science has been offered
at CEFI since 1996 and is administered by the CMT Dean.

RED- The color relates to the stability of the college. WHITE- is purity,
cleanliness, Completion, Ultimate Wisdom and Assimilation of all Life
Lessons. CIRCLE- (sacred hoop, ring): An ancient and universal symbol of
unity and wholeness, MICROSCOPE- This symbolizes the uniqueness of the
Medical Technology profession, wherein we can see what others can’t see.
CYCLOOCTANE- This indicates the continuous energy flowing out to pursue the
objectives and ideals of the college. Atoms represent the basic unit of the college;
the students and the teachers. These resemble the relationship and adherence
between the stake holders; the administrators, the teachers, the students and the
community. They also resemble the unselfish sharing and dedication to impart
knowledge. ERLENMEYER FLASK- This represents the college’s flexibility and
toughness, amidst the trials and burdens the college faces. TEST TUBE- This
represents the humility of the college and the commitment to serve the community.

MISSION:
To provide students with a highly professional, undergraduate educational
experience, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Medical technology/
Medical Laboratory Science.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Bachelor in Medical
Laboratory Science is a four year program consisting of general
education subjects and professional subjects. The second semester of
the fourth year level is the internship program of six (6) months in an
accredited training laboratory with rotational duties in different
sections such as Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology,
Immunohematology (Blood Banking), Immunology and Serology,
Urinalysis and other Body Fluids (Clinical Microscopy), Parasitology,
Histopathologic/Cytologic techniques and other emergent
technologies.

PINNING CEREMONY

The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored school tradition, dating back
before the turn of the twentieth century. Traditionally, Med. Tech students
have conducted an Honors or Pinning Ceremony to mark the passage of
students to the practice role. It is an emotional event that you will want to
share with your family and friends. In the traditional ceremony, sophomore
students receive their pins after meeting the necessary program
requirements for completion of the first year program.
The following students are eligible students to join the pinning ceremony:
1. Those who have completed all the course requirements for the first
year shall be qualified for pinning ceremony.
2. Students who intend to take up the Primary Health Care -2 subject
3. Students who have is not yet joined a pinning ceremony prior to the
enactment of this handbook.

Upon entering into the practice of Medical Technology let it be known that:

INTERNSHIP
REQUIREMENTS
1. Only those who completed all the course requirements for the
first three and one half years shall be qualified for internship.
2. Applicants shall undergo physical and laboratory examinations
which will include complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis, fecalysis,
drug tests (methamphetamines and canabinoids), HbsAg, anti-HBs
and chest X-ray and/or Sputum Microscopy. They are also required
to present proof of vaccination against hepatitis B. Any applicant
found positive for infectious diseases (like hepatitis, tuberculosis,
etc.) shall be temporarily suspended to undergo training unless
proof of adequate/complete treatment is submitted.
3. Other requirements of colleges and universities prior to internship
shall be observed

Outstanding intern possessing enthusiasm and understanding in
diagnostic laboratory procedures. Intern who best exemplifies using effective
clinical communication skills with both clients and colleagues, demonstrating
that emotional care to the patients. Having outstanding dedication and
commitment to the field of Medical Technology.
Nominated by the Clinical Instructor based on the evaluation given by
the Interns’ coordinator of the affiliated Clinical Laboratory.
