STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Medical Technology Week

An annual celebration every month of September along with the

Philippine association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) and Philippine
Association of School of Medical Technology and Public Health (PASMETH).

This event provides an appropriate venue for the administrators,

faculty members, and students to gather and reminisce the struggle and
success of the college of Medical technology.

PINNING CEREMONY

A pinning ceremony is a symbolic welcoming of sophomore Medical

Technology students into the Practice of Medical Technology profession. The
Medical Technology students are presented with Med. Tech pins by the
faculty of the college of Medical Technology. Often the students recite the
code of conduct.

Page | 9
The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored school tradition, dating back
before the turn of the twentieth century. Traditionally, Med. Tech students
have conducted an Honors or Pinning Ceremony to mark the passage of
students to the practice role. It is an emotional event that you will want to
share with your family and friends. In the traditional ceremony, sophomore
students receive their pins after meeting the necessary program
requirements for completion of the first year program.

The following students are eligible students to join the pinning ceremony:

1. Those who have completed all the course requirements for the first
year shall be qualified for pinning ceremony.
2. Students who intend to take up the Primary Health Care -2 subject
3. Students who have is not yet joined a pinning ceremony prior to the
enactment of this handbook.

CODE OF ETHICS

Of the

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGISTS

Upon entering into the practice of Medical Technology let it be known that:

I accept the responsibilities associated with my duties

I shall uphold the ideals of my profession

I am aware that since the physician relies upon my work in the

diagnosis and treatment of diseases, any error may affect the health or
even the life of the patient. Every procedure and observation therefore
must be carried out with absolute reliability, accuracy, fairness and
honesty

I am aware of the need for mutual understanding and cooperation

among my fellow workers in the medical and paramedical field in the
pursuance of a worthy cause
Page | 10
I shall strive to preserve the integrity of myself and the professions
from whom we expect the same.

I shall strive to develop necessary virtues needed in my work and shall

place my service above any other considerations.

I shall restrict my praises, criticisms, views, and opinions within

constructive limits and I shall not use the knowledge I know as a tool for
my selfish personal ends.

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST’S PRAYER

God, who by calling us to the vocation of a Medical Technologist, has

placed upon us the obligation, of being a constant help in the scientific care
of the sick. Grant us, by thy divine light, a deep insight into the serious
responsibilities of our tasks.
By thy divine wisdom, awaken in us a growing zeal and determination
to increase our knowledge on how to search for the underlying causes of
sickness and diseases; how to recognize the evidence of physical changes;
how to make important chemical analyses, and other valuable tests so
helpful in caring for the sick.
By thy divine love, permit us in this way to share with those who
directly care for the sick that thus we may be contently working through the
Eternal physician Christ our Lord. AMEN.
