Team Building Activities:


Aim: To motivate the students to work together to develop their strengths and students
should encourage collaboration rather than competition.

Objectives:
1. Improve inter-team communication
2. Increased motivational levels among team members
3. Inculcate leadership skills among students.
4. Encourage out of the box & creative thinking
5. Helps people learn how to work with each other and get along well.
6. Build skills like communication. Planning, problem solving technique and conflict
resolution.
7. encourages deeper discussions and processing

Best Team Building Activities:

1. Name of the Activity: Balloon Tower


 No. of Participants: 4-6

 Materials used (per team): Use a bag of balloons, Tape measure and roll of
masking tape to build the tallest freestanding tower possible in the time allotted.
 Duration: 20-30 minutes
 Procedure:

 Split the group into small teams (of 4 – 6).


 Introduce the exercise by stating that the challenge is to build the tallest, most
cost effective free standing tower. They can use only the balloons and tape.
 Allow four minutes of brainstorming and planning. When you say “Go!” the
tower building can begin.
 Let the teams build for 20-30 minutes, giving time announcements at five
minutes, two minutes and one minute remaining.
 At the end, whichever team has the tallest freestanding tower is the winner.

 Learn from the activity: This free energiser helps test participants creativity and
gets them working as a team. It also improves the student’s communication skills;
identify strong leaders, negotiators and participants with valuable skills. It also adds a
fun element to training and helps reinvigorate the participants. It also depends on the
communication between the team members and how clearly do they understand and
interpret each other.

2. Name of the Activity: SEE, RUN, DO

 No. of Participants: 6

 Materials used (per team) : Drawing sheet , drawing board , pencil , eraser ,
sketch pen , crayons etc
 Duration: 1 hour+
 Procedure:

 Get a meaning full drawing alternatively print pictures of objects


 Divide all participants into team of 6 people
 Ask each team to pick one person to be the seer , runner and artist and other
members as helpers
 Ask the artist to take his place next to the drawing sheet
 Then the picture has to post outside the class in the corridor, where no one can
see it, except seer.
 With the given time the seer have to go and see the picture which is stick out
side on the wall
 Then he has to come back .d tell runner, what he sees with a given time
 Then the runner have to come back near the artist and explains how the seer
tells him
 Artist must imagine the poster as the runner says based on what the seer tells
the runner
 Then the same procedure repeats only the ten chance they get to see the picture
 • After the drawing finish with a given time they have to keep the drawing
with the print picture and compare it
 Learn from the activity: To be good at this game teams have to delegate
effectively, pick the right artist seer and runner, we learnt the proper
Communication trust worthiness creativity intelligence imagination from this
activity where the creativity trust worth and responsibility place an important role.

3. Name of the Activity: Mine Field

 No. of Participants: A small group of about 6 people can go at a time.

 Materials used (per team): very large outdoor or indoor space, several light, soft
objects to serve as obstacles (such as large paper cups, empty plastic bottles, cones,
soft foam balls, etc.); a blindfold.
 Duration: 20-30 minutes
 Procedure:

 Find a good large outdoor field or large indoor space. Be sure there are no
dangerous items or hazards nearby.
 Set up the “minefield” by placing “mines” (large paper cups, empty plastic bottles,
cones, soft foam balls, etc.) in many places all over the space.
 Once the minefield is set up, divide players into pairs. Create pairs carefully. In
each pair, one person will be blindfolded and will be not allowed to see or talk.
 The other person is allowed to see and talk, but is not allowed to touch the other
person or enter the minefield. Have each pair decide which role they want to play
and distribute blindfolds.
 Playing the Mine Field Game
 As you lead the activity, try to inspire the players and emphasize the importance
of trust and safety. Promote a serious environment.
 As soon as a member of the team starts to cross, all the remaining members must
remain silent.
 The goal is for each blindfolded person to get from one side of the field to the
other.
 If they fail, then they must return to the starting point and the next team member
must attempt to cross.
 When crossing, members of the team are only allowed to move one block at a
time. You are permitted to move in any direction you choose.
 He or she must safely avoid touching the “mines,” by carefully listening to the
verbal guidance of their partners.

and solving problems, grouping information for short term memory and Works on
troubleshooting.
