Soldier: Sir, may I go out to bring my fallen comrade back?
Major: Do you think it’s worth it? Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life
away.
Soldier: Do let me go, sir.
Major: Alright, if you insist so much but remember you are doing it at your own risk.
Soldier: Yes, sir. Thank you, sir.
(Sometime later… The soldier returns to the trench with his comrade on his shoulders)
Major: I knew it wouldn’t be worth it. Your friend is dead and you yourself have been
mortally wounded.
Soldier: It’s totally worth it, Sir.
Major: What do you mean?
Soldier: When I got to Jim, he was still alive and he said, “I knew my friend would surely
come to save me.”
The company was caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing overhead. A soldier
saw one of his comrades trapped in crossfire in the No Man’s Land. He immediately asked
