1. Assertion (A): Geologically, the Peninsular Plateau constitutes one of the ancient landmasses
on the earth’s surface.
Reason (R): The peninsular plateau is composed of sedimentary rocks.
2. Assertion (A): The northern-most range of the Himalayas is known as the Great or Inner
Himalayas or the Himadri.
Reason (R): It is the most continuous range consisting of the loftiest peaks with an average
height of 6,000 metres.
3. Assertion (A): The Western Ghats cause orographic rain.
Reason (R): The Western Ghats faces the rain bearing moist winds to rise along the western
slopes of the Ghats.
