Dear Paul,

We have reviewed the pictures of the recent damage to the wall of the above structure. We
have also reviewed the engineering reports shown in the emergency demolition order.

It is our professional opinion that the damage observed and the condition described in the
reports can be repaired and brought to a condition of improved safety with the help of a
contractor who has experience in working on historic structures and working under our
direction. Our office has been involved with many projects involving historic structures in
DC and other areas where similar repairs and restorations have been made. There is no
question in my mind that this building can be retained.
