Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Asia’s oldest stock exchange, has signed MoU with Mission Youth,
Government of J&K to spread financial awareness, support economic development, and encourage
sustainable livelihood in the Union Territory.
Pertinently, under Mission Youth, the J&K government has been continuously working on Policy and
Process interventions to bridge the skill gaps, create conducive environment for collaborative efforts
to generate employment opportunities in various sectors.
Financial sector in Jammu and Kashmir has evolved significantly over the years and has been a key
driving force behind economic growth.

• India was invited to be an observer for the first time in November 2011.
• India will be more integrated with the global economy since APEC economies constitute an
important trading bloc in the world.
• It will help India bargain and negotiate a better deal with the countries of the Asia-Pacific

Markets regulator SEBI launched the Securities Market Trainers (SMARTs) program, an initiative
aimed at enhancing investor education and awareness.
SMARTs are expected to conduct Investor Awareness Programs (IAP) for existing and prospective
investors in the securities markets, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said in a
statement.
In these programs, topics related to basics of securities markets, rights and responsibilities of
investors, understanding the risks and rewards involved while investing in the market, grievance
redressal mechanism, among others, are expected to be covered.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has released a new book titled 'Future of Regional Cooperation
in Asia and the Pacific'.
This book reviews progress with regional cooperation and integration in Asia and the Pacific and
explores how it can be reshaped to achieve a more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive future.

Data published by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade shows that
Singapore has become the biggest FDI source for India between April and September 2020.
Data published by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DIPP) shows that
Singapore has invested Rs 62,084 crore into India between April and September 2020. This was
followed by the USA with Rs 53,266 crore of inflows. In the fiscal second quarter alone, India has
received $28 billion of FDI inflows, which included equity inflows, re-investment earnings, and other
capital.
Other top contributors include the Cayman Islands with inflows worth Rs 15,672 crore and Mauritius
with Rs 15,019 crore. These are followed by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Sectorally, most of the FDI equity inflows have flown towards the computer software and hardware
sector. The sector has received Rs 1.31 lakh crore in inflows between April and September. This
followed by Rs 16,995 crore worth inflows into the services sector, and then trading with Rs 7,140
crore worth inflows.

Afghanistan was the most affected by terrorism followed by Iraq, while India ranked 8th on the Global
Terrorism Index 2020.
• India recorded 277 Deaths, 439 Injuries & 558 Incidents due to Terrorism in 2019.
• Regionally, South Asia was the most impacted region by terrorism in 2019, recording more
deaths than any other region.
• Globally the deaths caused due to terrorism fell by 15 percent to 13,286 in 2019 over 2018.
I. The GTI report issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is based primarily on
the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) collated by the National Consortium for the Study of
Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland, besides other
sources.
II. The index provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in
terrorism since 2000. It produces a composite score in order to provide an ordinal ranking of
countries on the impact of terrorism.
III. The GTI is based on data from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) which is collected and
collated by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism

• Just 15 years old, Rao has been selected from a field of more than 5,000 nominees as TIME’s
first ever Kid of the Year. She spoke about her astonishing work using technology to tackle
issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying, and
about her mission to create a global community of young innovators to solve problems the
world over. Even over video chat, her brilliant mind and generous spirit shone through, along
with her inspiring message to other young people: don’t try to fix every problem, just focus
on one that excites you. “If I can do it,” she said, “anybody can do it.”

Sivathanu Pillai is the author of book titled 40- Years with Abdul Kalam- Untold Stories. This book
discusses many of the interesting events, mostly the untold ones, about Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
The book was released virtually by The Vice President Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, he called upon
youngsters to draw inspiration from former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and work towards building
a strong, self-reliant and inclusive India. He said that like Dr Kalam, the youth should think out of the
box and use technology for providing solutions to the various economic and societal challenges that
impact large sections of India’s population.
Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, a systems engineer by profession, has 50 years of experience in ISRO & DRDO.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra of HCL Technologies has topped the list of wealthiest women in India 2020,
according to the second edition of 'Kotak Wealth Hurun-Leading Wealthy Women'.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra is an Indian businesswoman, the chairperson of HCL Technologies and the
first woman to lead a listed IT company in India. She is the only child of HCL's founder, Shiv Nadar. In
2019, she is ranked 54th on the Forbes World's 100 Most Powerful Women list.

association and advocacy group based in India. Established in 1927, on the advice of Mahatma

Space start-up Pixxel has signed an agreement with State-run NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to
launch the country's first private remote-sensing satellite on an ISRO PSLV rocket in early 2021.
The agreement is one of its kind after the establishment of IN-SPACe, the authorisation and
regulatory body under the Department of Space for enabling private players to undertake space
activities in India.

Bank of Baroda (BoB) has launched the Atmanirbhar Women Scheme as part of its Baroda Gold Loan.
Under the scheme, the bank is offering loans at 0.50 per cent concession for women.
The bank under the gold loan scheme is also offering agri-gold loan at 0.25 percent concession and
for retail loan at 0.50 per cent concession.

Gwalior and Orchha of Madhya Pradesh have been included in the list of World Heritage City by
UNESCO.
Orchha
• The famous spots in the town are Raj Mahal, Jehangir Mahal, Ramraja Temple, Rai Praveen
Mahal, and Laxminarayan Mandir.
• After inclusion in the World Heritage City list, chemical treatment of historic spots like
Mansingh Palace, Gujri Mahal and Sahastrabahu Temple will be done so that art inscribed on
them will become more visible.

Sawantwadi toys handmade works of art made of wood in Sawantwadi a town in Sindhudurg district
of Maharashtra. The toys are made by assembling flat shaped solid wood. Seasoned mango wood is
chiseled or carved into desired toy shape. The cutout pieces are finished on a sander, painted and
assembled. The craft is traditionally done by the Chitari or Chitrakar community.

Although the origins of stock exchanges can be traced back to the stock exchange in Antwerp (1460),
the Amsterdam Stock Exchange is considered the oldest in the world.
It was established in 1602 by the Dutch East India Company (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie or
VOC) which issued the first shares on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. It was the first company to
issue stocks and bonds. It was renamed the Amsterdam Bourse and was the first to formally begin
trading in securities.
