N-DRIL™
Filtration Control Agent
Description N-DRIL, modified starch, can be used to ensure filtration control in water-based fluids with
minimum viscosity build-up. N-DRIL exhibits excellent stability against bacterial
fermentation and contains no toxic preservatives.
Applications/Functions C Control filtration in fresh-water or electrolyte-based drilling fluid systems at
temperatures up to 300EF (149EC)
C Provide filtration control of drilling fluids in environmentally-sensitive areas
Advantages C Provides filtration control with a minimal increase in viscosity
C Minimizes the dispersion of shale and clay cuttings
C Does not require a biocide and does not ferment
C Effective in freshwater, seawater, saltwater, and saturated saltwater drilling fluids
C Can be used efficiently in gypsum-treated and lime systems
C Maintains filtration control when contaminated by brine water flows, salt, gypsum,
anhydride, cement, or other contaminants
Typical Properties C Appearance Coarse off-white powder
C Bulk density, lb/ft3 41.47
C pH 11.5
