Definition
• Pluralistic: different races, nationalities, religions or groups participate and keep on developing their culture in the society
• Recognises and allows its citizens to have cultural plurality (have their own culture)
• Have mutual tolerance+ respect+ accommodate different voices(promote development)
• Fully express its opinions and valued by the society
• Coexist peacefully(respect each other)
→ Salad bowl
→ not Melting pot:
○ Destroy the development space of ethnic minorities
○ The society wouldn't improve
→ Traditional Chinese idea of 'diversity and harmony' / 'seeking common ground while reserving difference'

Features:
• Cheap hostels: welcomed by backpackers from Europe, US (United States), Korea and Japan

• Overstayers work in the building (e.g. restaurant employees/ selling watches, handbags, second-hand mobile phones, clothing, etc.)
