Background
PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur, Tbk. is one of the big companies that are very well known in
Indonesia. This company is engaged in food and beverage processing which was founded in
1971 and has branches in almost all regions in Indonesia with a commitment to produce
quality, safe, and halal processed food products for consumption. Aspects of freshness,
hygiene, nutritional content, taste, practicality, safe and halal consumption have always
been Indofood's priorities to ensure that product quality is always prime.
Indofood is Indonesia's premiere food company, and controls the domestic market through
its various products, including instant noodles, wheat flour, various brands of vegetable oils
and fats, baby food and snacks. Indofood also produces food seasoning products. Brands
that play an important role in sustaining Indofood's business stability and Indofood's
fundamental strength include Indomie, Supermi, Sarimi and Sakura instant noodles, Bimoli
and Sunrise vegetable oils, Royal Palmia and Simas margarines, Chiki, Chitato and Jet-Z
snacks, Promina and Sun baby food products, as well as Indofood soy sauce and Lombok

Information System Used Before Pandemic

ERP is used to manage all company activities including finance, production, HRD, marketing,
supply chain, logistics, etc. SAP is a company that has the largest market share
(marketshare) in the world for ERP software, including those used in PT Indofood. The ERP
concept can be run well, if it is supported by computer applications and infrastructure both
hardware / software so that processing can be done easily. ERP evolved from Manufacturing
Resource Planning (MRP II) where MRP II itself is the result of the evolution of the previously
developed Material Requirement Planning (MRP). The modular ERP system usually handles
the manufacturing, logistics, distribution, inventory, shipping, invoicing and corporate
accounting processes. This means that this system will later help control business activities
such as sales, shipping, production, inventory management, quality management and
human resources.

baby food and soft drinks. The scope of Indofood's company business and future
market growth make Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) an important factor in the
company's success. The different variants of instant noodles must contain the right
spices produced by the Food Ingredient Division (FID). Each division must adjust
their product plans (Production Plans) so that there will always be all kinds of spices
needed by the various variants of instant noodles. At the same time, they must keep
the warehouse inventory to a minimum. Only an ERP application can make it as
manageable and scheduleable as possible. From Production Planning and Control,
through forecasting and business intelligence needs, Indofood has entrusted SAP
R / 3 as an ERP solution, SAP Advance Planner and Optimizer (SAP APO) as a
Supply Chain Management (SCM) solution and mySAP Business Intelligence with
the SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAPBW).
When choosing a platform from an ERP system, Indofood sees 3 criteria, namely
reliability, scalability and ease of management. By looking at these criteria, IBM
iSeries was chosen as the hardware platform to be used. iSeries has the security,
scalability and cost efficiency to support SAP, and helps Indofood companies
maximize the value of their SAP solutions. When Indofood extends the core of the
SAP R / 3 system to include SAP BW and SAP APO, there is no question of
changing the server platform. SAP data is stored and managed by IBM BD2
Database Management
iSeries is doing very well, and we have the basics of OS / 400. Therefore, it is a
logical choice if we stick to this technology from IBM. iSeries provides virtually
trouble-free operation, and delivers whatever we need according to the company's
criteria of scalability, reliability and maintainability.
