GENDER AND SOCIETY

2nd ASSESSMENT
Reflection Paper

Pangalan: AMTIANCO, JERRY

Section: BSED FILIPINO 2-A

This semester, we're talking about the Gender and Society subject, which is more focused on a person's
gender and sexuality. Differences between men and women in a variety of areas, such as the G ender Roles
of a certain Gender hook on it.

This entire subject, Gender and Society, has given me a great deal of appreciation and understanding.
Ideas and also allows me to open up my thoughts in this problem about the differences between men
and women, not only in terms of the sexual differences that each gender has, but also in terms of the
size of the disparities that both genders have in terms of their capabilities. Also, the concepts that I
learnt in this subject and throughout this module are more effective. Respect for everyone, even if we
are different for each other, is important to me.
In this module, we also discussed the factors that cause us women to differ from men. There are
several things that I learned and discovered in this module: first, how we women are controlled by
men; second, how we may differ from men in terms of behavior, attitudes, capabilities, gender roles,
and what other genders we have in our society or community; and third, what other genders we have
in our society or community (LGBTQI).
The first and second theories that we reviewed in class were the "PATRIARCHAL &SOCIAL
CONSTRUCTION,"where the first and second theories focused on what capabilities men and women
have on the day they were born. This theory focuses on demonstrating political rules such as men
having greater authority or influence than women. However, as a woman, I don't believe it is
necessary to compare what we have, our capabilities, or our strength to that of the opposite gender.
Instead, we must recognize that each of us is a human being, not a people. We do not belong as
members of the system in our community or society.

The third of the Gender and Society's seven theories is the "(PSYCHOANALYTIC THEORY),"which
focuses on how we deal with our own conscious and unconscious minds. According to Sigmund Freud,
we have three components in our minds: the ID, SUPER-EGO, and the Ego, and these three
components help us people to be more effective, efficient, and productive as a pax. Also, in this
theory, it is based on the belief that our experiences during our childhood journey would undoubtedly
be adapted when we reach adulthood. I mean as I understood in this theory we get our kind of
behavior as we step in Our Adulthood stage is based on our Childhood experienced.

The fourth theory is (STRUCTURAL FUNCTIONALISM), which, as I learned and understood it, focuses
on the word "EQUALITY"of both opposite genders, i.e., men and women, and shows how the function
flows well when the two opposite genders work together, such as when they don't see each other's
capabilities and how the Gender Roles are listed. This idea focuses on gender equality in both men
and women.

The fifth theory is the (CONFLICT THEORY), which shows how big the tensions and problems of the
opposite Gender regarding the Gender Roles that they are following, but the fourth theory is more on
arguing and having a bias when it comes to the Gender Roles that both Genders are following. In this
case, I'm talking about Theory stating that men should be more recognized in society because they are
the providers, while we women take care of the house.

The sixth theory is the (SYMBOLIC INTERACTION ISM THEORY), which focuses on the symbols of men
and women, rather than only the shape and so on. But what is the genuine identity of a Gender from
the moment they are born till they reach adulthood? It was incorporated into this theory the different
Genders, as we all know that women and girls tend to have Barbie doll toys when they are in their
childhood and men tend to have a car for their toys, but if the two opposite Gender choose toys that
are not based on their gender, no one, including parents, will believe that this child is a man or a
woman when they reach adulthood.

The last theory is the (FEMINISM THEORY), which we may deduce from the word "feminism"that it is
more concerned with the gender of women, such as their characteristics, abilities, and school
thoughts. And as a woman, it assists me in expanding my understanding of the various capabilities
and roles that women possess.

What I've learned in this entire module and in these entire 7 theories about gender and society is that
even if we have opposite genders in each other, different capabilities, and different Gender Roles in
our lives when we were born, we must respect, appreciate, and acknowledge each of us because we
can't hide the fact that we Humans need each other to build and survive in this Society. And instead of
debating authority and power in terms of each of us, we should have a discussion. In terms of a few
things, equality is important.
And while we're on the subject of gender, we all know that we're aware of the various genders, such
as "LGBTQI,"as I previously stated, we need to respect each other rather than bully them. We should
accept and not judge them based on their appearance or gender because, in the first place, they don't
like it when they're born.
