OCB:

Organizational citizenship behaviour is people talking positively about their organization,

helping others, and going beyond the normal expectations of the job. A person who is satisfied
with their job is more likely to engage in citizenship behaviour.

Example:

Consider the example of an air hostess.if she is satisfied with her work she will engage in
citizenship behaviour by greeting the flight attendants with a smile on her face. She would go
out of her way to take care of the attendants eg if a baby is crying she will try to calm the baby
down by offering toys, coloring books,a baby basnet for the baby to sleep to make sure if the
flight is comfortable.

Impression management:

It is the process by which individuals attempt to control the impression that others form of them.

For example:

Consider an employee who is a would ingratiate themselves with their superior by agreeing with
their opinions and complementing them, this would lead to a the employee getting a higher
performance rating. In this example the employee used ingratiation of the supervision to manage
his impression which led to giving him a good performance rating form the manger.

Linking the two:

If a citizenship behaviour is done for impression management it leads to lower performance

ratings whereas if the employee would actually have pro socal values which would to citizenship
behaviour then they tend to get higher performance ratings for example

When managers relate employee citizenship behaviour to impression management, they dislike it
as give the employees lower performance rating.
