Day into Night Star

Or 2016… into 2017….. It’s a neat way to mark a transition


with a block that is half light and half dark

You can use 2 fabrics, or make it scrappy with the center


rectangles different light/dark than the star points. Block is 12.5” x 12.5”
This will make such a fun quilt to do with multiple blocks! Finished Size 12”

The Solstice challenge spans 182 between the winter and summer Solstice this year. Well be making
a quilt with 26 blocks… and Somewhere along this journey I'll give you a setting.

Cutting & Sewing Directions


1) Sew the dark and light strips together
Light Fabric Make 1 units
· Cut 2 square 3.5” x 3.5”
· Cut 1 strips 3.5” x 6.5”
· Cut 4 squares 4” x 4” for HST units

Dark Fabric
· Cut 2 square 3.5” x 3.5”
· Cut 1 strips 3.5” x 6.5”
· Cut 4 squares 4” x 4” for HST units
2) Sew the dark and light 4” squares using
HST method on next page. Make 8 units

- Draw a line on the back - Layer the dark and light square
of all the light squares - Sew a ¼” seam on both

-Trim squares to 3.5” x 3.5”
