Dates
When naming years, the first two figures are said
as a cardinal number, then the word „-hundert”
„hundred” and then the last two figures also as
cardinal number.

From the year 2000, the whole four-figure number

is said as a cardinal number .

Ordinal numbers are formed as follows:

from1st to 19th: ending '-te'; from 20th: ending '-

ste'.

der achte (= the eighth)

After the words „am / vom / bis zum /seit dem / ab

dem“ – „on the / from the / until the / since the /
from the“ – the ending from1st to 19th is „-ten“;
from 20th the ending is „-sten“.
