SUBJECT:
Clearing Error Codes

GENERAL:
This Technical Publication covers the correct procedures to perform after a hardware error code occurs.

DETAILS:
Whenever a hardware error occurs, the respective part/s associated with the error that is being displayed
should be replaced.
After installing the replacement part, the printer should then be booted into Service Mode. Allow the printer
to come to a ready state. Entering Service Mode will automatically clear any error codes.
Note: Do not clear the Error section under the Initialize function as this will clear the error code
history list of all previous error codes that have occurred.
Finally, reboot printer in User Mode and follow control panel instructions.

In cases where the Main Controller or M/C Relay board needs to be replaced, the following steps should be
taken:
1. Replace Main Controller or M/C Relay board.
2. Turn printer ON in Service Mode and perform board replacement function (CPU = Main
Controller and MC = M/C Relay) and let operation complete and turn printer OFF.
3. Turn printer ON in Service Mode once again allowing any error codes to clear.
4. Turn printer ON in User Mode and test all functions.

Note: Parts counters are to be cleared for the part/s being replaced in Service Mode under the Initialize
tab. All required adjustments need to be performed after replacing the Carriage Unit and any Feed
Roller related parts.
Refer to the Service Manual for further information.
