SUBJECT:
2F26 Error (Carriage Motor Driving Error)

GENERAL:
This Technical Publication describes how to troubleshoot and resolve a 2F26 Error Code.

DETAILS:

Troubleshooting procedure for 2F26.

2F26 Error (Carriage Motion Error)
Condition Can not detect if the carriage unit is good by the carriage encoder sensor.
The possible Heavy load to the carriage drive C1 - Dirt on the carriage shaft.
causes function. - Not enough tension of the carriage belt.
- A foreign object makes it.
Electrical trouble on the carriage C2 - Abnormal electrical signals or voltage
drive function - Not connected properly between cable and connector
- Trouble on the Carriage Motor.
Trouble on the linear encoder C3 - Dirt or scratch on the linear encoder strip
strip. - The carriage belt does not sit properly.
- The carriage belt does not keep enough tension.
- Crack on the flexible cable or not connected properly
between cable and connector.
Trouble on the Purge Unit. C4 - Can not unlock the carriage unit
- Capping sequence can not be done properly.
- Can not detect the current condition on the Purge Unit
correctly.

The possible cause What should be checked How to check

C4 Check where the carriage unit is. There may be defective purge unit if it is at the T11
extreme left position.
C2 Check if the carriage unit moves smoothly. Flow 1
C3 Check if there is unexpected vertical uneven line around the leading edge. T01
C2 Check how the carriage unit works in initializing. (Need to update the firmware to Flow 2
the latest.)
C3 Check if the linear encoder strip sits properly. T12
C3 Check if there is damage on the linear encoder strip. T01
C4 The carriage unit does not sit on proper position even though the locking pin is T11
lock position.

The voltage for driving the carriage motor needs to be properly checked
if it does not move at all while initializing.
Model The electrical point needs to be checked? Voltage
iPF5000 series (Except iPF5100/6100) J3101-3 pin on Main PCB Board 26 V
iPF5100/6100 32 V
iPF700 series/iPF9000 J3101-1 pin on Main PCB Board 32 V
iPF8000 series/ iPF800 (Except iPF9000) J3150- 14 pin on Main PCB Board 32 V

Note: Voltage needs to be checked while the printer is initializing.
