 ABSTRAK

Tesis ini menerangkan tentang eksplorasi terhadap ideologi dan konsep hidup dan mati dalam
tradisi budaya cina menerusi karya lukisan. Melalui kajian ini, perbezaan antara budaya
kepercayaan dan konsep dapat dibincangkan dalam pendekatan lain dari segi tanatologi
kerana terdapat perbezaan pendapat dalam budaya yang lain. Topik ini dipilih untuk memberi
pengetahuan lebih lanjut tentang pemahaman budaya kepercayaan dan ideology kaum Cina
terhadap yang lain. Walaubagaimanapun, kajian ini mempunyai persepsi pandangan peribadi
mereka berdasar kepada kumpulan tertentu, status sosial, jantina, umur, agama dan etnik.

ABSTRACT

This dissertation aims to study the ideology and concept of life and death in the tradisional of
Chinese culture through the drawing. The study examines the difference between others
cultural of belief and concept approaches the thanatology, as there is divergence of the
cultural opinion. The topic was chosen for the further knowledge of the cultural
understanding of the Chinese by the others belief and ideology. However, the study behind it
has their personal perception in some respect regarding to the particular groups, social status,
gender, age,religion and the ethnicity.
 CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Life and death is an interdisciplinary field that among of the people perceived the phenomena

of born and death. It is an universal human concern the evolved throughout the cultural

tradition to explore the life and death. In Chinese culture, there is difference perception and

thought between others cultural regardless religions,races and belief. There has been

extensive interaction between traditional Chinese beliefs and the more recent Confucianism,

Taoism, and Buddhism. However, the word of “dead” mostly a taboo subject either in

Chinese society generally or sociology in particular part. Although in this modern era, death

is an natural common thing but people still not want to be mentioned or think about it. In a

sense, it is not forbidden subject that attempt to explain and described. Most of the Chinese

believe the concept that “As a man lives, so shall he die.” No one is immortality,yet, no one is

longevity. There are example of Chinese tradisional festival which believe in the concept of

life and death such as Ghost festival and Cheng Beng celebrated by Chinese in many

countries and had been practiced since thousand years ago. Otherwise, Chinese influenced by

the Buddhist culture while there are believe in concept of reincarnation.

1.1 Pendahuluan

Kursus ini memberi fokus terhadap komponen penyelidikan dan penyediaan untuk peringkat
pra-penyelidikan kepada projek akhir sarjana muda. Para pelajar akan menjalankan projek
penyelidikan berdasarkan topik pilihan dalam bidang berkaitan pengkhususan seni halus
dengan bimbingan dan persetujuan penyelia akademik projek tersebut. Kursus ini juga
bermatlamat untuk mengukuh keupayaaan pelajar membuat penyelidikan secara individu
dalam mencari maklumat dan bahan-bahan untuk menyokong tajuk penyelidikan. Ia
menekankan kepada aspek kreativiti dan inovatif, penganalisaan secara kritikal, pengurusan
projek, penyelesaian masalah, aplikasi teknologi dan penemuan baru. Perlaksanaan kursus
merangkumi penulisan kertas kerja, metodologi kajian, kajian literasi, analisa,perbincangan
dan validasi data, serta penghasilan karya. Pada akhir kursus ini, pelajar perlu
membentangkan progres penyelidikan melalui sesi penilaian)
