Ethical Analysis on the Case of Abortion

Janice and Richard had sex several times thus resulting to pregnancy. The rising
problem of Janice and Richard is whether Janice would have an abortion or not.
There is an ethical dilemma in this scenario because of the different beliefs that
each person has. Janice was a minor as well as Richard. Janice is 16 years old while
Richard is 17. Janice was born in a Roman Catholic family and abortion is really against
the church and biblical teachings. Meanwhile, the father of Janice is an agnostic and
pushes her daughter to have an abortion. In Janice’s point of view, she can’t decide on
whether to continue have the baby aborted or not because of underlying reasons and
aspects to be considered.
Now, Janice is not sure in herself on what would be the right decision to make.
She is contemplating about having an abortion because it would really affect her studies
and her future. She knows that she might not be able to continue studying once she
gets pregnant so she consulted a priest in their church and thus saying that abortion is
not right and should not be done.
Abortion is detrimental to one's virtues and hence impairs one's capacity for a
happy and fulfilling life. Although Janice is free to choose whatever she likes but it is
important to consider her moral beliefs. As she already knows that abortion is a mortal
sin and should not be done.
The parents should be the one to take action first on what’s best for their child.
As Janice is a teenager, they must encourage their child not to have an abortion and
just accept the fact that she is pregnant. Alongside with their beliefs and ethical
principles, they must support their child in bearing her first child. Also, they must
consider the feelings, thoughts, and perception of their child to avoid any complications.
Once the plan of not having an abortion ended. The family must continue to
support their child’s education. Janice has a long way road to go and it is still possible
for her to continue her education. Of course, with the help of her partner Richard and
her parents.
MEMENTO MORI
 Memories of death
 Remembering someone who passed away
 Remembering and praying for those people who passed away
 to commemorate someone who passed away
 to retain the memory of the deceased
What is your perception about death?
Death is a reality that continues to confound our reasoning. No one has ever
experienced being dead since death is not a personal experience; we can see the
deaths of our friends, relatives, or other beings, but we will never witness our death;
death is definite while also remaining a mystery.
