Exercise 3
The line graph illustrates how many Vietnamese students studying in three
different countries namely France, Russia and the US over a period of 5 years
starting from 2000.
Overall, there was an increase in the number of students enrolling in America and
France, while a decline was seen in the figure for Russia. In addition, students
chose to study in America experienced the most considerable growth to become by
far the most popular from 2005 onwards.
In 2000, standing at over 3,5 million, the number of Vietnamese students in French
school was highest, while the respective figures for Russia and America were
approximately 3 and 1,5 million. Over the next 5 years, there were an increase of 1
million in the number of students studying abroad in France and Russia. A
opposite change can be seen in the figure for America, which increased to exactly
2 million students in 2005.
From 2005 onwards, 2 million students learning in the US, with a dramatic rise to
5 million students in 2015. Similarly, the number of Vietnamese students in French
schools remained unchanged at approximately 2, 5 million students until 2010,
before decreasing the end the period at around 4, 5 million students. Meanwhile,
although decreasing to the lowest point of under 2 million students in 2010, the
figure for Russia then rose gradually to 2, 5 million in the last year of the period
examined.
in comparison with only 3 million and 1, 5 million students studying in Russia
and America respectively

Exercise 4
The line graph compares the number of cars per household in Britain over a period
of 40 years.
Overall, while the percentage of household with one car and two or more cars
increase, despite fluctuations, the opposite is true for no car household. Also, no
car ownership in Britain experience a biggest change during the period shown.

The line graph compares the amount of electricity produced in France over a
period of 32 years.
Overall, there was an increase in the amount of electricity generated by nuclear and
renewables in France, while the opposite trend can be seen in the figures for Hydro
and Thermal power. It is clear that Nuclear increased to surpass that of Thermal,
making it the most produced type of sources from 1982 onwards
In 1980, the amount of electricity manufactured by nuclear was nearly 70 Tw-h,
while renewable provided a negligible amount. Over following 32 years, there was
a significant increase to reach a peak of nearly 430 Tw-h in 2005, and a final drop
to just over 400 Tw-h 5 years later. Meanwhile although remaining unchanged
until 12005, the figure for renewable increased slightly to approximately 25 Tw-h
during the last 7 years.
Of the other electricity sources, in 1980, Thermal was the most common electricity
source, before decreasing to only 50 Tw-h in 1985 and remained almost unchanged
for the rest of the period. Similarly, the amount of electricity produced by Hydro
started at 70 Tw-h, after which it experienced a fluctuation, before ending the
period at roughly 50 Tw-h.
Exercise 6
The line graph illustrates how many US government invested in for different
studies over a period of 28 years starting form 1980.
It is clear that there was an increase in the US government spending for all
researches. In addition, health generally had the highest figures throughout the
period.
As can be seen from the graph, the number of government’s budget spent on health
was at approximately 8 million, which was significantly higher than the figure for
Energy, at only 2,5 million in 1980 as opposed to about 2,5 million on Energy
sector in 1980 approximately 8 million dollars were disbursed on Health, as
opposed to about 2,5 million dollars on Energy sector in 1980. Since then,
despite a considerable decrease in the first 4 years, the US expenditure for Health
rose dramatically to over 20 dollars in 2004, before decreasing slightly by 2 dollars
in 2008. Meanwhile, although remaining unchanged until 1992, the amount of
money poured into Energy witnessed a significant growth to just over 5 million
dollar in the last year.
Of the other research fields, about 7 million dollar were disbursed on Space, while
the figure for other was slightly lower, at. Over the following 28 years, after
decreasing to about 5 dollar in 1984, the US government expenditure for Space and
other experienced a fluctuation before ending at nearly 10 dollar and 7 dollar at the
end of the period.

Exercise 1:
The bar chart compares how many males and females registering for fitness centers
in Thailand over a period of 40 years starting from 1985.

Overall, there was an increase in the numbers of female subscribers to fitness

service in Thailand, while a constant decline was seen in male fitness membership.
In addition, the number of males and females attending in fitness centers in 2010
had generally had the highest figure throughout the period.

As you can be seen from the chart, approximately 2200 male members fitness
membership, compared to about 1300 of female members. Over the following 5
years, the number of male members attending fitness centers nearly doubled the
figure for female, at approximately 3800 and 1900 respectively. By 2005, the male
members decrease dramatically to about 1800 members, whereas the of females
increased to 2800 members.
Between 2005 and 2010, there was a significant increase in the number of males
and females applying for membership of gym clubs to reach a peak of 2950 and
5000 members respectively. In 2015, the figure for females, with 2000 members,
was twice as many as the male figure, with 1000 members.

over 2 separate years.
Overall, there w ưz
In 1991, the number of arrests for illegal drugs use stood at 10. However, there was a gradual increase to
about 22 from 1991 to 1994. The figure then rose dramatically to 60 in 1995 and kept remaining
unchanged at 60 over the following two years. 1997 to 1999 saw a steady fall in the arrests rate to under
40, which was followed by a significant increase at the end of this period, with the rate reaching a peak of
70 in 2000. After that, the number of the arrests hit a low of 15 in 2001 and then suddenly increased to 55
in 2002Following two years saw a fluctuation before decreasing gradually to 40 in 2005
