Comprehension
Answering questions based on a passage

Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.

Sam and Ann’s teacher was telling them fairy tales. Ann liked the story ‘Beauty and the
Beast’. She liked the main character, Belle, who lived with the beast so that she could save her
father. In the end, she married the beast who turned out to be a handsome prince. When Sam heard
the story, he said that it reminded him of the story ‘The Frog Prince’. When the princess agreed to
marry the frog, he turned into a handsome prince as well.
Sam’s favourite stories were ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ and ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’.
He thought that the emperor was very foolish and proud. He did not realize that everyone was
laughing at him. Sam liked the two elves in ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ because he thought
that they were very kind. They helped the shoemaker and his wife to become prosperous. He was
glad that the shoemaker and his wife helped the elves in return.
