1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 ABSTRACT
Efficient health care system is most important factor playing role in the development of coun-
try. But the current pandemic has greatly effected the health sector. Even many developed
countries are facing worst conditions due to shortage of ventilators and staff. Also the hospital
staff and non COVID patients are on great risk of getting corona virus. The Pakistan
Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has exhausted its capacity and patients even have to
wait at the emergency centre to get a bed.
PIMS, which is a tertiary care hospital and gets emergency patients from across the
country, has started referring emergency patients out due to lack of beds

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

• Hospitals are over burden with COVID patients with no room for new patients

• Self quarantined patients are at the mercy of physicians and hospitals for check up.

• The check up of COVID patients increase the chances of spread of virus to the
physicians and medical staff. Physician cant be informed about the patients parameter
with conven- tional system.

• In our design we are locally developing ventilators that can display the patients
parame- ters over the internet.

• The ability for patient to self medicate under the supervision of physician while minimiz-
ing the transfer of the virus

1.3 TECHNIACAL SPECIFICATIONS

• Respiratory Rate (RR) (breaths per minute): between 6 – 40.

• Tidal Volume (TV) (air volume pushed into lung): between 200 – 800 mL based on
patient weight.

• I/E Ratio (inspiratory/expiration time ratio): recommended to start around 1:2; best if
adjustable between range of 1:1 – 1:4*.

• Assist Control is based on a Trigger Sensitivity: When a patient tries to inspire, they
can cause a dip on the order of 2 to 7 cm H2O, with respect to PEEP pressure (not
necessarily equal to atmospheric pressure).

• Airway pressure must be monitored continually. Maximum pressure should be limited

to 40 cm H2O at any time

• Plateau pressure should be limited to max 30 cm H2O.

• The use of a passive mechanical blow-off valve fixed at 40 cm H2O is strongly

recom- mended. This is integrated into most manual resuscitators.

1.4 METHODOLOGY
First, We take values from user input in webpage, We put BPM(Breath per minute), flow
rate and pressure value from user. We made different transfer function by using these value.
Basi- cally normal BPM of any person is 12 to 20.By using flow rate we are controlling valve
opening and By pressure value we are controlling Dc motor speed. In the automatic control
portion all sensor run time values and graph are shown, on basis of these value we entering
our three parameters. In the second part we have pressure sensor, which is analog output,
So it cannot connected directly with Raspberry Pi so first we connected with arduino uno
and then con- nected with Raspberry Pi and second sensor is Spo2, which have supported
to I2C communi- cation, by using this we directly raspberry Pi 3, On the actuators side the
Air Bag compression motor(Dc motor), We used Motor Driver Which are controlling the Air
Bag compression mo- tor .We used limiting Switches are controlling the motor position. We
have a valve which are control by servo motor and servo motor is control by flow rate value
which we entered in web- page. All sensor value ,valve position and graph are visible to
webpage. All Data saved on Data Base as well.

2 TENTATIVE BUDGET

2.1 CAPTIAL BUDGET

The total cost of the hardware components are approx. 20,000/-

2.2 RUNNING COST

The running cost only include the electricity bill, i.e for 100per 6hours of usausage at 15
Rupee per watt charges. And the other cost include the running cost of Oxygen tank that
must be used with the ventilator i.e 4000 per day.

2.3 FINANCIAL GROWTH

If the ventilator is sold at 35,000 per piece it would produce 15,000 profit per piece tot he com-
pany and this price is 100,000 lower than the market price.
