Assalammu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh Praise to be Allah Subhannahu


Wata’ala who has created the heavens and the earth and who has given us the
blessing of knowledge, the blessing of health and the blessing the we have enjoyed
up to now, and we also don’t forget to give it to our prophet Muhammad
Shalallahu Alaihi Wassalam who has brought us from an age of being unable to do
anything and leading us to the right path.

The author’s purpose of making this paper is a form to complete the task given by
the lecturer mother Nursiti Aisyah Paputungan M.Pd as an English lecturer. The
task given is entitled pronoun, how do replace a word so that it is appropriate and
can be a good sentence for example Rizal talked to me last night. And the
pronouns include me, you, him, her, it, us, and them. The author also aims to make
this paper more insightful for readers and writers.

Don’t forget to also write to the people who have helped in the preparation of this
paper, especially to the groups of friends who have participated. The author is also
aware that this paper is still far from perfect, don’t forget to apologize for this eror,
the author hopes that later he will get critism and suggestions from readers.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

A. Background Of The Paper


This paper is intended for students or for those who will later become the
nation’s successor, This paper contains a discussion of the use of pronouns,
especially in English, the reason the author discusses this is because of the task
of the lecturer, Nursiti Aisyah Paputungan as an English lecturer, and also the
author feels that these pronouns should be discussed, so that later they can add
knowledge to readers.
Before going into the discussion, the author wants to give a little about the
material that will be discussed later, namerly about the use of pronouns.
Pronouns in Indonesian are called person and object pronouns, which include
singular pronouns and plural pronouns. First person pronoun (singular)
Namely subject pronoun ( I ) , Object pronoun ( me ),Possessive adjective
pronoun ( my), Possessive pronoun ( mine ),Reflexive pronoun ( my self ).
B. Formulation Of The Problem

4. What is the function of using pronouns?

C. Writing Purpose
The author's goal in making this paper is to be able to add insight into
pronouns, both in terms of understanding, function and procedures for using
pronouns

DISCUSSION

1. Definition Pronouns
Pronouns are words that are presented to replace previous words, such as people or
things. This word is also not classified in anyway because these words have the same
structure so they are placed in a different position than usual
2. From Of Pronouns and Examples

A. Personal Pronouns
Personal pronouns is a pronouns that is used to replace people, things or other things.
Personal pronouns can also be used as subjects, objects, and adjectives. As a form to

3. How To Use Pronouns Forms
a. Use of subject pronouns
Subject pronouns is a pronouns that function as a subject.
- I, you, we, they, he, and she are used to replace people
- they are also used to replace plural nouns. he and she can also be used to replace
animals, especially pets. especially for she can also be used to replace ships
- it is to replace inanimate objects and single plants
- he she and it are singular nouns that are always followed by a singular verb

the use of subject pronouns is divided into 5 as follow


1). subject pronouns are placed at the beginning of the sentence (before the verb)
Example:
° I like swimming ( saya suka berenang)
° he is my brother ( dia saudara laki – laki saya)
2). in patterns like this, it, that , this, these, those, and there only function as pseudo-
subjects. Subjects are actually nouns. Therefore, the proper pronouns used after to be
are subject pronouns.
Example :
° it was I who broke the mirror ( adalah saya yang memecahkan cermin itu)
3). after the expression as... as in the Equal Comparison sentence.
Example :
° He is as smart as she ( Dia ( cowok ) sama pintarnya dengan dia ( cewek ))
4). after than in unequal comparison sentences.
° I am smarter than he (saya lebih pintar dari dia)
5). After diferrent from
° we are different from they. ( Kita beda dengan Mereka)
b. object pronouns are pronouns that function as objects and are put verb
- Diana gave me a piece of cake ( Diana memberi saya sepotong kue )
- I like him (saya suka dia)
- Do you like your new shoes? Yes, I like it very much ( Apakah kamu suka dengan
sepatu barumu? Ya saya menyukainya dengan sangat)
c. use Possessive Adjective
These pronouns function as adjectives, namely to explain ownership of nouns.
Example :

- This is my computer.
- That is his house.
- This is your dictionary.
- We all like our teacer.
- Didi and keken are saving some of their money to buy a gift.
d. Use Possessive pronoun
This pronoun also expresses ownership of something. The difference with possessive
adjectives is that the noun is not mentioned again because it is already implied in this
pronoun.

Example :
- This house is mine ( rumah ini adalah rumahku )
- I like her shous but I don’t like yours ( saya suka secepatunya, tapi saya tidak
suka sepatumu )
- Those books are his now. ( buku-buku itu adalah buku-bukunya sekarang )
- That television is ours. ( TV itu adalah TV kami )
- These beautiful cars are theisrs. ( mobil-mobil cantik ini adalah mobil-mobil
mereka )
- This dictionary is hers. ( kamus ini adalah kamusnya )
e. These reflexive or reciprocal pronouns are used to self-reflect and to amplify the
meaning of the person or thing they refer to.
Example :
- I hate myself ( saya benci diriku sendiri)
- You all have to help yourselves. ( kamu semua harus membantu diri kamu
sendiri )
- We have to discipline ourselves ( kita harus mendisiplinkan diri kita sendiri)
- He gives himself a little more time to rest. ( Pria sombong itu sangat bangga
dengan dirinya sendiri)

CONCLUSION
From all the explanations above or an explanation above, the writer concludes according to the
title Pronouns that pronouns are used to replace people, objects, subjects, objects or other things.
and also the use of pronouns is divided into 5 as explained in the discussion above
SUGGESTION
The author realizes that there are still many mistakes in writing and in taking the material. so the
author apologizes for all the mistakes in making this paper, the hope of the author is that with
this discussion of pronouns the readers in the use of pronouns. in the last section there will be a
