Case Study Analysis

Situational Analysis
 The ongoing year has observed severe period of depression in Indian information
technology sector for engineering students.
 Amisha Gupta, a young achiever from a prestigious college located in Bangalore and
newly hired enthusiast in Xciting, one of the highly regarded IT companies located in
India, in which many Indians are aspiring to work for.
 She faced numerous experiences when hired for the IT Company regarding office
culture, professionalism, rigorous training programs and discovering like-minded and
abominate colleagues.
 She cleared the in-depth training programs leading to examination and proved herself
to be worthy of being an employee at Xciting.
 When she was faced with time bound tasks which are in groups, she used to lead the
team by giving opinions and ideas which made her well-known for her leadership
skills.
Problem Analysis
 Amisha had been a victim of corporate politics as during training phase, the trainer
had behaved rudely with her. Which caused demotivation and resulted in bad
experience throughout her period at Xciting.
 Amisha went through difficult phases which includes separation from classmates,
friends and newly made friends because of job placement and also experienced
underdeveloped branch location in comparison to where she was trained.
 Her action was quite immature regarding office culture as she has just stepped in the
professional world which she was not familiar with.
 One of the inconsistencies arising among Gupta and the IT Company is the factor of
 socializing which she expects between team mates and supervisor.
 She found a team mate who used to run away from work and desired to remain idle.
 unexpected task which is quite imperative thing in organizational culture but the less
socialized culture at that new office location was resisting Amisha Gupta to complete
her task before deadline.
 The other thing Gupta expected was to always work on projects and never to remain
idle, as she is proactive learner which made her to think that organization should also
be proactive in giving tasks. This inconsistency in providing task by the company was
drawing a thin line between Gupta and Xciting.
Plan of Action
 The organisation should create a comfortable & friendly environment for the new
recruits during the training phase.
 Amisha should perform SWOT analysis of her career choice, as she is not inclined
towards the culture of IT professionals.
 Socialization should be adapted within the culture of organization and this should be
further processed by Xciting HR Department.
 She should spend three to five years of her career in xicting and accumulate the
knowledge regarding different projects and organizational culture.
 By considering her leadership skills she could go for options like supervisor, may start
her own company, educator, or instructor in this reputable company or some other
organization.
