Course Objective:
The coverage would enable the students to have an in-depth understanding of laws regarding
commissioning of hospitals , the requirement of land use , building norms , due diligence and respective
requirements of registration and obtaining licences from various regulatory authorities , besides ,
compliances to law ,rules and regulations .

Pre-requisites:
Basic knowledge of land and building laws, regulatory compliances and laws regarding the
different legal entities which are taught in UG courses

Student Learning Outcome:

The learning outcome under this course will lead the students to understand the legal
requirements regarding commissioning and establishment of hospitals and day to day working
thereto, Besides, the student will have the understandings with respect to different legal entities
for carrying on such activities.
Course Contents/Syllabus:

Legal entities: Incorporation & Registration, Society, trust, company,
partnership, limited liability partnership & like other entities

Module II:
Land & acquision : transfer of property ,land laws, land use & 20
conversion ,encumbrances and creation of security

Module III:  
Building Regulations : development authority, regulations, rules & bye 20
laws , land within jurisdiction of panchayat ,nagar palika /notified area ,
cantonment , power and water connections ,liability to local and other
taxes , charges etc ,
  Module IV :

Permissions & licenses: Rules & Regulations for hospital & nursing home 20
permissions /licenses ,registration for X-ray facilities , Clinical
Establishment laws

Module V :

Regulatory Authority: Power & obligations, sanctions, periodic report and 20


returns, deviations and rectifications ,remedy for grievances , Regulations
Governing the Business Aspects of Hospital

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


The course will be taught by delivery of lectures, interaction/discussions, presentation of papers,
attending to seminars, and study of the case laws
