Kelly and Brandi Parrish started praying about church planting when they lived in
Texas. That meant coming to grips with leaving family, friends and the state they
loved. One thing that helped during the transition was asking God to break their
hearts for the people in Colorado, and to birth love for unknown people who would
soon be neighbors.
It was a prayer that definitely bore fruit. God’s love has fueled the Parrishes to create
opportunities that connect with people, such as tying Scripture verses to Halloween
candy and organizing Easter Egg hunts that culminate with a Gospel message. They
invest in people while fly fishing or during conversations over sweet tea. “We never
told anyone we were here to plant a church. We’re here for them. We came to love
them,” Brandi said.
The Parrish home today is a welcoming place and a safe haven for many in the
neighborhood. They invite people into their home with Texas-style hospitality:
“Whatever we have is yours. Whatever you come in with – abuse, violence, stormy
nights – we’re here for you and we’re not going away.” It’s a message that works well
in this smaller community outside of Denver, one that God has blessed with several
life-changing conversion experiences. Soon, Living Rock Church will be birthed from
the foundational relationship-building the Parrishes have done. Pray for people in
Colorado to know the wholeness that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Savior.
The Parrishes benefit from the generous gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®
