This course module will introduce you on the theoretical, historical, legal, and
sociological foundations that form the basis for the Special and Inclusive education.
Discussed also here in the module the lessons about the child development theories and
learners with additional needs. Thus, this module will be of great help to you especially you
are now on the stage of practicing your future career.
Identify laws, policies, models, theories, and philosophies that form the basis for
special education practice.
Distinguish the typical and atypical development and characteristics of learners with
exceptionalities.
Design a learning plan in the context of learners with special education needs.
Appreciate uniqueness and diversity among all learners most especially students with
additional needs, difficulties and disabilities.
