Dear <First Name>,

As an early childhood educator and higher education professional at the University of Delaware, I am
aware of how children’s ecosystems intermingle, and subsequently impact their overall development,
specifically in suburban early childhood programs.

A child’s experience in a Suburban setting can be very different compared to their peers in rural and
urban areas. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) recognizes those
differences, and can be a valuable resource to educators like you. Systems theory recognizes the home as
a child’s innermost learning system followed by school. Our society and culture represents the outermost
system. This idea helped me reinforce the social component of development, an area currently being
minimized in some early learning centers so, I encourage you to ask yourself, “How do various
environments and social interactions impact early learning programs in your area, and how can your
needs be supported?” NAEYC understands your needs, and actively works to provide experiences and
resources to help you provide quality early childcare for the young children, families and communities
you serve.

The association strives to be a High Performing Inclusive Organization, and prides themselves on
embracing diversity and inclusion. Whether diversity in thought, gender, culture or age, NAEYC provides
platforms just for you. Learn about NAEYC’s positions on significant issues affecting young children’s
education and stay tuned for the launch of their first position statement on equity. Check out the Topics
webpage to see more articles and blogs that highlight topics like social and emotional development,
developmentally appropriate practice, anti bias education, family engagement and more.

NAEYC is the premier professional membership organization for early childhood education
professionals. The association provides career resources and platforms for students, young and new
professionals in the field through higher education initiatives, scholarship opportunities, the Young
Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC) and more. NAEYC can connect you with leaders and peers in
the field no matter where in the world you are. Engage on HELLO, the online community for networking.
Connect with early childhood professionals in real-time when you join Hello and participate in our
interest forums. You would also benefit from in-person training and online learning. Don’t worry about
taking off work to travel to every professional development workshop, hear from experts in one of
NAEYC’s invaluable virtual workshops or webinars.

A major concern for many early childhood educators like you is compensation. NAEYC keeps you in
mind when it comes to making membership affordable and worthwhile. The organization offers
customizable membership levels that best meet your financial needs. Entry level members have access to
digital content like award-winning magazine, Teaching Young Children, the peer-reviewed journal, Young
Children, and more. With your membership you could get up to 80% off office supplies with the new
Office Depot/OfficeMax benefit, discounts on resources in the NAEYC store, and savings on conference
registration.

The NAEYC family also prioritizes compensation through their public policy and advocacy efforts. The
association leads Power to the Profession, a national initiative to define the early childhood profession by
establishing a unifying framework for career pathways, knowledge, and competencies, qualifications,
standards, and compensation. There are many opportunities within this association to sharpen your
advocacy skills and speak out about the issues that matter. NAEYC offers YOU a voice!

All children should have the equal equitable learning opportunities and NAEYC is constantly cultivating
their benefits, and innovating more resources so that you can prepare them to be positive citizens in a
diverse world. So, join us in promoting high quality early learning for all young children! For more
information on NAEYC opportunities and benefits, contact the customer care team at
customercare@naeyc.org.

Sincerely,
Garnett Booker
