Unit 1. BACK TO SCHOOL
I. OBJECTIVES.
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to revise the simple present tense, and learn to use
the indenfinite: much, many, alot of, lots of.
II. PROCEDURE.
1. WARM UP.
- T asks Ss some questions about their personal information
What is your name?
How are you today?
How old are you?
Which grade are you in?........
- Ss answer individually.
- T introduces new lesson.
2. NEW LESSON
A. Theory
I. The simple present tense
* Cấu tạo: S + V(s/ es)
* Cách dùng: Thì hiện tại đơn diễn tả một thói quen hay việc thường làm ở giai đoạn hiện
tại.
Ví dụ: Nurses look after patients in hospitals.
* Lưu ý: -Đối với các chủ ngữ là ngôi thứ nhất số ít hoặc số nhiều, ngôi thứ 2 số ít hoặc số
nhiều và ngôi thứ 3 số nhiều thì động từ theo sau nó ở dạng nguyên mẫu không có “to”.
-Đối với các chủ ngữ là ngôi thứ 3 số ít thì động từ theo sau nó được thêm “s” hoặc “es”,
nếu những động từ đó tận cùng bằng các chữ cái “ch, s, sh, ss, tch, x, z, zz” thì chúng ta
thêm “es”, những động từ còn lại thì chúng ta thêm “s”.
Ví dụ: watch-> watches
Kiss-> kiss
Stop-> stops
- Đối với các động từ tận cung bằng “y” thì ta phải chuyển “y” thành “i” trước khi them
“es”.
Ví dụ: study -> studies
Fly -> flies
- Trường hợp động từ “play” và “stay” và một số động từ có dạng tương tự chúng ta chỉ
thêm “s”.
Ví dụ: play -> plays
Stay -> stays
- các trạng từ thường đi kèm trong thì hiện tại đơn là: always, sometimes, often, usually,
never, every day, every week, every year………..
II. Indefinite quantifier: “much, many, a lot of, lots of”
* much và many
Chúng ta dung “much” với
danh từ không đếm được và
“many” với danh từ đếm được
Ví dụ: much time much luck much energy
Many friends many students many rooms
“much” và “many” chủ yếu được dùng trong câu phủ định và câu hỏi
Ví dụ:
We don’t have much time
Have you got many friends?
* A lot of và lots of
Chúng ta dung “a lot of” và “lots of” với danh từ không đếm được và danh từ số nhiều.
Ví dụ: a lot of/ lots of time
Chúng ta thường dung “a lot of” và “ lots of” trong câu khẳng định
Ví dụ: There is a lot of rain today

- Để biểu lộ sự ngạc nhiên, sự đau đớn, sự tán thưởng, sự phàn nàn…về một người nào, một
vật gì hoặc sự vật gì, ta dùng:
What + a/ an + adj + N + (S + V)
Ex: What a lovely girl!
Note: Đối với các danh từ số nhiều hoặc danh từ không đếm được thì ta không dùng mạo từ
a/ an trước chúng.
Thường bắt đầu với How hoặc What và tận cùng bằng dấu chấm cảm

a. Comparatives
- Hình thức so sánh hơn của
các tính từ có một âm tiết
S1 + BE + ADJ +ER +THAN + S2
Eg: I’m stronger than you
This house is bigger than that house.
- Hình thức so sánh hơn của các tính từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên
S1+ BE + MORE + ADJ + THAN+ S2
Eg: My sister is more beautiful than me
Mary is more careless than Susan
b.Superlatives.
- Hình thức so sánh nhất của các tính từ có một âm tiết
S + BE + THE + ADJ + EST......
Eg: This tower is the tallest
Minh is the tallest student in my class
- Hình thức so sánh của các tính từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên
S + BE + THE MOST + ADJ......
Eg: Ba is the most intelligent student in our school.
* Note:
- Với một số tính từ ta phải gấp đôi mẫu tự cuối trước khi thêm “er” hoặc “est”.
Eg: big -> bigger- the biggest
Hot -> hotter -> the hottest
Wet -> wetter ->the wettest
-Các tính từ có 2 âm tiết thường có hình thức so sánh hơn là “more + adj + than”, nhưng khi
tính từ từ có 2 âm tiết tận cùng bằng “y” như “happy”, “funny” thì hình thức so sánh hơn là
“ adj + er +than” và hình thức so sánh nhất là “ the + adj + est”.
Eg: easy -> easier -> the easiest
Happy -> happier -> the happiest
Funny -> funnier -> the funniest
- Các tính từ có 2 âm tiết khác thường có dạng so sánh hơn là “er” và so sánh nhất là “est” là
những tính từ tận cùng bằng “le, ow, er”
Eg Yellow -> yellower -> the yellowest
Clever -> cleverer -> the cleverest
- Hình thức so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất của các tính từ bất quy tắc
Eg: good -> better -> the best
Bad -> worse -> the worst
Far -> farther/ further -> the farthest/ furthest

II. Imperative sentences (câu mệnh lệnh)
Câu mệnh lệnh là loại câu yêu cầu hay sai khiến ai làm điều gì đó. Mệnh lệnh thường nhắm
đến người nói chuyện trực tiếp với người nói tức là ngôi thứ 2 số ít hoặc số nhiều. Tuy nhiên

MEALS IN BRITAIN
A traditional English
breakfast is a very meal: sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushroom. But nowadays many

of cake) with cream and jam.
The evening meal is the main meal of the day for many people. They usually have it
quite early, between 6.00 and 8.00, and often the whole family eats together.
On Sundays many families have a traditional lunch. They have roast meat, either beef,
lamb, chicken, or pork, with potatoes, vegetables and gravy. Gravy is a sauce made from the
meat juices.
The British like food from other countries, too, especial Italian, French, Chinese and
Indian. People often get take – away meals – you buy the food at the restaurant and then
bring it home to eat. Eating in Britain is quite international !
